Hazelburn 12 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed January 26, 2016 (edited August 28, 2017)Nose: Oak, strawberry watermelon candies, celery, hint of smoke. There's a brightness to the nose. Palate: Darker (older?) oak, strawberry watermelon candies, cantaloupe like sweetness through the finish, smokiness. Add a little water to this one. '4.5' -
Springbank 15 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed January 24, 2016 (edited February 22, 2018)-Cheers to Damon for sharing this- Although very different, I found similarities from the 12 yr green. The nose is deceiving as it tells lies of a one dimension sherried whiskey; grape juice, red fruits, oak, frangipane, a mild sugar sweetness, pecan pie. The palate agrees with the nose with pomegranate, fresh crisp cranberries, grape juice tannins, wax, and a smooth smokiness. The truth is told in the finish where I found pretzel, salt, cheese brine, smoked cheese (specifically brie). Don't be fooled into thinking this is just a sweet scotch, it's very much savory one. I'll be making plans to visit again, so be ready to pour this one Damon! -
Balvenie Single Barrel 15 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 16, 2016 (edited February 10, 2018)Instantly on the nose is a full oakiness, sweet vanilla rum, and fresh wet hay. On the palate there's that full oak with a splash of cream soda. The finish brings clove spice then soft green apple. The mouthfeel of this is like a wave in the ocean breaking over deeper water; you expect a huge crash after a buildup, but instead it quietly diminishes. I'm impressed. Needless to say, I would like a bottle of this. -
Aberlour 12 Year Double Cask Matured

Reviewed January 2, 2016 (edited August 28, 2017)Orange peel and 'Nilla wafer on the nose. Apple juice throughout. Simple and smooth with a mellow smokey & spicy finish. - A little bit of water opens up to plum, vanilla, and orange pith. -
Dunedin Doublewood 10 Year
Single Grain — South Island, New Zealand
Reviewed December 7, 2015 (edited December 9, 2015)This is a sweet and harsh whiskey. Not an easy finish. A bit of water finds butterscotch and softens up the finish. '2.5' -
Springbank Green 12 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed November 19, 2015 (edited January 23, 2018)Most well rounded whiskey I've had. First on the palate comes the soft peat with a fair sweetness. For the rest of the time there's a back-and-forth between sweet, spicy, pretzel like saltiness, and the soft peat flavour that keeps coming back.
