Don Q Double Aged Vermouth Cask Finish Rum
Aged Rum — Puerto Rico
Reviewed March 23, 2020 (edited March 11, 2022)Finally opened this bottle. I tried the double cask sherry a few days back and it was very good. This Don Q Vermouth is super smooth and light. The aroma is herbal and the finish is sweet and short. A very surprising drink from Don Q. -
Aberlour 16 Year Double Cask Matured
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 23, 2020 (edited December 13, 2021)Truly liking this dram. The aroma is magnificently sweet and fruity. The palate is chocolate, sherry and spicy, and the finish has a smooth warm heat. Excellent for those who like a nice sherry influence in their whisky. -
Kamiki Japanese Cedar Cask Finish Blended Malt
Blended Malt — Multiple Countries
Reviewed March 22, 2020This whiskey is matured on cedar cask, which allows me to get a very distinct aroma on the nose. On the palate I get fruits followed by a slight short burn, which is nice considering an ABV of 48%. A few drops of water opens it up and the cedar aroma dissipates to the back and on the palate, more fruity and delicate.80.0 USD per Bottle -
Kilchoman Machir Bay (2016 Edition)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed March 22, 2020 (edited April 13, 2020)This scotch reminded me of summer time in PR, going to the beach. On the palate tasted a little salty, like ocean water, and a little smoke, like bbq on the beach. -
Don Q Double Cask Sherry Finish
Aged Rum — Puerto Rico
Reviewed March 22, 2020 (edited January 1, 2021)Finally opened my bottle after almost a year in queue. On the nose I get sweet chocolate and sherry, lovely color. The palate is smooth and sweet, with a little lingering heat on the back end. The Sherry influence is good, not overpowering. A nice sipping treat from Don Q for an affordable price. I got my bottle at the PR Airport during a special, two for $80 or so.41.0 USD per Bottle -
Balcones Texas Single Malt
American Single Malt — Texas, USA
Reviewed March 21, 2020 (edited March 4, 2021)This whiskey reminds me of Foursquare Empery. The flavor is bold, rich, sweet and the high ABV is noticeable. A few drops of water opened a more sweet aroma. -
Singleton of Glendullan 15 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed March 20, 2020 (edited December 27, 2021)A little light on the nose and the palate, but for me, it has a long lasting bite on the backend. It reminds me a little of an Irish whiskey. I got it on sale for under $35, so I figure why not. $35 for a 15 years Scotch. I would have scored it higher if it had a little more flavor.
