Alexander Murray & Co. 16 Year Vintage Blend
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed May 17, 2024 (edited August 4, 2024)Nose of bourbon barrel and some graham cracker, vanilla and orange peel. Very smooth, a bit muted. There’s bourbon barrel and touches of sherry and vanilla on the palate. Just a bit of charred oak at the finish. Not bad, but sort of boring. -

Bourbon — USA
Reviewed May 8, 2024 (edited May 9, 2024)Nose of oak, caramel, chocolate, hazelnut. Smooth on the palate, with caramel, hazelnut, vanilla, barrel char, coffee, cherry. Medium finish of barrel spice and char. Quite an easy drinker, but still pretty potent. Love it. -
Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year Bourbon (107 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 7, 2024 (edited May 8, 2024)Nose of Red Hots, wheat, oak, charcoal, burnt caramel, vanilla, green herbs and soy sauce. Palate very smooth, oak, char, wheat, vanilla, black pepper. Long spicy peppery finish. This is more interesting, more complex, and better than the 20 year. I only mention this as a comment on the hype that surrounds these things. @twostal
