Tequila Mi CAMPO Reposado
Tequila Reposado — Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed November 13, 2019 (edited February 27, 2021)As smoooooth as you can get out of a Reposado under $25. Nose: White chocolate, peaches, white pepper, wild flowers, vanilla and agave. Palate: Vanilla, whipped cream, herbaceousness and a woody caramel. Smooth up front with a pleasing peppery burn on the tail end. Finish: Long and swaps between pleasingly soft and creamy and peppery. -
What an interesting rye. Nose: Elevated, and yet yes extremely complex and spicy. Home made whipped cream, clove, allspice, white flowers, raw honey and a hint of coconut cream. Palate: BOOM! Big whoop of flavor, but again everything is light and almost airborne. Rich cream, flowers, cinnamon, pink pepper, salt water taffy, fresh grass, vanilla and pana cotta. Finish: Long, but lingers in the throat and chest.

Your dictionary definition of Bourbon. Nose: Powdered sugar and maple syrup. Alcohol kick, softens into over cooked caramel or burning sugar. That early mix of butter, sugar and brown sugar when making cookies. Baking spice, eucalyptus and a crack of pepper. Palate: Rye really shines through, leaving the sweetness behind. Spice, eucalyptus, cinnamon, creamed corn Vanilla, toffee and coffee cake. Dried out oak Drinks warm, should be next to a fire. Finish: Dry...but that vanilla sweetness comes in. There’s an oak driven Cab Sauv richness lingering long after, almost stays in the chest.

Old Forester 100 Proof Bourbon

Reviewed October 7, 2019 (edited October 22, 2019)Thick, loaded and filled with all the dessert goodness. Nose: Butterscotch, rich mahogany, dark dark fruits, and bright pop of cherries. Palate: Rich, layered with baking spices and heaps and heaps of orange zest and wood. It almost drinks like a strong cocktail. Proof does shine through so, it’s hot. Finish: Once the proof heat dwindles, the vanilla and caramel softens everything up. Citrus and cherry continues, ending with a barrel bite. -
Jefferson's Reserve Very Old Bourbon

Reviewed October 7, 2019 (edited May 21, 2020)All of the Bourbon goodness without the sticky Bourbon cloy. Nose: Gentle with a wide layer of spice, coffee and pepper. Dried dates, apricots and juicy cherries. Light vanilla, with a luscious cream. Eucalyptus? Mint? Fresh cut herbs? Palate: So fresh, yet dry, spicy and woody. Vanilla remains light, filling in the gaps instead of layering on a thick layer. Sweetness and cream round off all of the baking spices, and eucalyptus. Finish: The cream fades into a woody, spicy and dry finish. -
Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition

Reviewed October 7, 2019 (edited November 26, 2019)Everything you love about Jameson, with a chocolatey softness Nose: Classic green apple and bright malt Coffee, chocolate cookies and brown sugar covered oatmeal Candied citrus, orange chocolate candies. Palate: Copy Nose, Paste. Gets nuttier, almost like Nutella Finish: Long and just flat out friendly There isn’t anything dazzlingly complex. It’s just a really fun-loving enjoyable whiskey. -
An Irish Whiskey for the thinking man. Nose: Ohhh mamma, buttery, malty and sweet. Baked red apples mixed with zingy yellows Toffee, smashed oily walnuts and flowers. Palate: Oh so rich and luscious. Buttery cream, vanilla cookies and walnuts Baking spices, pie crust and soft peaches Freshly sanded wood and soft vanilla Everything is rich yet delicate Finish: Long, slow, meandering and thick. All the cream, spice and fruit give you a hug

Nose: Soft peat smoke and wood char Chocolate powder, and ginger bread Oranges and a hint of whipped honey Palate: One note smoke, and bourbon Fresh baked bread, baking slices and coca A bit of wet hay, soft Brie cheese Vanilla and bourbony sweetness Finish: Chocolate powder and chalk That wet hay funk continues Cheese dipped in honey
