Jose Cuervo Especial Gold Tequila
Tequila Mixto — Tequila Valley, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed January 2, 2018 (edited February 23, 2018)Is -436 stars too generous a rating for this fake tequila crap? When you hear your friend say “Tequila? No way man. I can’t mess with that stuff. It always makes me puke,” you have this piss-water to thank. Avoid like the plague. PS: It ain’t even really Tequila, it’s a “mixto,” which means there are all sorts of other sugars dumped in outside blue weber agave. This is but one of the many contributors to it’s awfulness. -
Laphroaig Quarter Cask
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland

A damn near perfect Islay scotch, and my first drink of 2018! The smoke, bourbon notes and sherry work together perfectly. Now if only I could afford to make it my consistent sipper... Update 3/11/18: I just paired this with a steak and there are hardly words to adequately capture the euphoria. Just amazing.

Glenmorangie The Original 10 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 30, 2017 (edited January 8, 2018)So far, my dive into Scotch has seemed to gravitate towards the more peated single malts. That being said, when I heard a few reviewers highlight that Glenmorangie 10 is the most popular scotch sold in Scotland, well, I went and picked up a bottle ($40 in DC) to give it a whirl. And it is surely a pleasant sip. The nose is a fruit basket covered in honey, which leads to a malty and citrusy mouth. The surprisingly long finish is accented with a pinch of mint and oaky spice. Solid stuff. I can see myself sipping it daily come April when the weather gets warmer. Also, this is a great intro Scotch for those friends and family looking to give it a try.
