Smoke, bread, and faint burnt caramel nose; the body is smoky and peaty, though not as much as regular lagavulin, there is definitely notable stone fruit and red wine notes given the Pedro ximenez second casking; disappointingly a little thin; slight burn in the middle; pretty dry, fleeting sweetness up front; finishes with smoke and some fruit rind astringency; good with added fruit notes, but overall I feel, inferior to the original and definitely not worth the cost

Brine and hickory smoke nose; peat, smoke, oak, and a little vanilla and bitter chocolate; finished peppery and peaty; smooth, oily texture; a little heat; hits all the Islay notes impressively for $50 and only five years

Peat and cherry wood nose; huge cherry, stone fruit, and sherry flavor; surprisingly not a ton of peat flavor; quite spicy and some astringency; finishes spicy and astringent with a little sherry fruit; a few drops of water opens up more stone fruit and smokiness

Nose is honey and walnuts; nice stone fruit, pear, and fresh walnut flavor; buttery texture as you’d hope from an Irish whisky of this caliber; finished clean with green apple and pear

Fantastic intro rye; faint coriander and dark berries on the nose; pretty sweet to start with a lot of brown sugar, fennel, and blackberries; fairly spicy; thin; finishes with black cherry and blackberry
