Lagavulin 2001 Distillers Edition (Bottled 2017)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed December 27, 2020Smoke, bread, and faint burnt caramel nose; the body is smoky and peaty, though not as much as regular lagavulin, there is definitely notable stone fruit and red wine notes given the Pedro ximenez second casking; disappointingly a little thin; slight burn in the middle; pretty dry, fleeting sweetness up front; finishes with smoke and some fruit rind astringency; good with added fruit notes, but overall I feel, inferior to the original and definitely not worth the cost150.0 USD per Bottle -
