For the money, this actually isn’t bad. Definitely a young, grain-forward flavor profile. But if you like Jim Beam White or Evan Black give this a try. The flavor is comparable and you might even save a few bucks.

I’m generally not much of a rye person but I’m enjoying this one. Fairly dry with the typical herbal notes. Probably a great introduction to rye for people who are new to the category.

Rich and well-aged with notes of spice, brown sugar, cherries, and oak. I knock it down just a little because I’m not quite sure it warrants a $70 price tag

Nice rich notes of Carmel, wood spices, roasted nuts and milk chocolate on the palate. Not overly complex but definitely richer than regular Maker’s.

Main tasting notes are butterscotch, rye spice, and a hint of chocolate. A little water or a cube brings out some cherry and leather notes. A little dry for my tastes, but a solid choice in the price range.

I purchased many higher end bottles of bourbon before I bought a single bottle of Evan Williams Black. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how much flavor it offered for such a low price.
