Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USAReviewed January 24, 2020 (edited February 13, 2020)I wanted to like this one more. Mostly bananas, brown sugar, and a little wood spice. This is a single barrel, so I am sure there are better barrels out there.
Wild Turkey Bourbon 101
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed January 17, 2020At $25-26 this one is a definite buy.
Glen Grant 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, ScotlandReviewed December 8, 2019Typical Speyside. Honey, orchard fruit, a touch of vanilla, white grapes, and confectioner’s sugar. Not bad if competitively priced with the likes of Glenlivet 12.
Talisker 10 Year
Peated Single Malt — Islands, ScotlandReviewed November 22, 2019Rich and palate coating, and very balanced. The right blend of citrus, smoke, malt, and spice. Highly recommended.
Peated Single Malt — Islay, ScotlandReviewed October 22, 2019 (edited October 25, 2019)Yep, this stuff is legit. Notes of honey, toffee, bacon, licorice, black pepper, coffee, and sea salt. Richer and sweeter than the 10 year. Definitely worth the money.
Macallan Classic Cut (2018 Release)
Single Malt — Highlands, ScotlandReviewed October 1, 2019 (edited December 14, 2020)I really liked this one. The bottle took a while to open up, but once it did I got dried fruits, caramel, chocolate, nutmeg, and baked sweet rolls, and ginger. One of the most full flavored Macallans I have had.
Old Grand-Dad Bonded Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed September 11, 2019 (edited September 13, 2019)Good high rye bourbon for the price. Gets better as you drink the bottle.
Knob Creek 9 Year Single Barrel Reserve
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed August 13, 2019 (edited August 28, 2019)Big notes of vanilla, nuts, Carmel, spice and oak. At 60 abv you probably want a little water. If you can get it for $50 or less, it holds its own against other Jim Beam small batch products.
Oban Little Bay
Peated Single Malt — Highlands, ScotlandReviewed August 2, 2019Not bad, but doesn’t exactly blow my socks off. I get citrus, poached pears, cinnamon and oak. At $60 in my area, there are better single malt options. Still, if you are an Obama fan and this is significantly less than the 14 in your area, you might want to give it a try.
Evan Williams 12 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed June 16, 2019 (edited February 12, 2020)I am a big EW fan, so I wanted to like this more, but the fact is that it isn’t much of an improvement over the EWSB, which goes for about $30 where I live. This is a good bourbon, but not worth $130.
