The Senator Barrel Proof Straight Rye (Fall 2018)
Rye — Indiana, USA
Reviewed July 6, 2019 (edited August 28, 2022)The nose is sweet, but has the traditional rye notes. On the palate it’s a touch sweet for 121 proof, has some spice, but finishes with loads of mint. So much so that I feel like I just brushed my teeth. -
Laws Four Grain Straight Bourbon Cask Strength
Bourbon — Colorado, USA
Reviewed May 15, 2019 (edited July 10, 2019)Skunky and less than tasty. Decent nose, but reeks of ethanol and not in a good way. The taste is light at first then hits you mid palate with ethanol and heat, again not in a good way. Too hot without any flavor nor nuance to make it interesting. Hard pass. -
Upon first sniff I swear it smelled like cheap tequila. Man this stuff is funky. Lite-Medium body, thin, definitely doesn’t coat the tongue. Good deal of spices and herbs; tastes medicinal without much quality flavor. Everything I envision a household cleaning product would taste like. Though it does finish with a hint of chocolate and coffee.
