Suprised the peat is fairly gentle on the nose, as is the high ABV. The nose is sweet but also has a lot of salt air on it. You get the ABV on the pallet, which comes off as peppery. Sherry and light peat on the finish. Pretty fuggin amazing! Gonna definitely go slow with this and let it open up. So far, its a slam dunk for me.

The bottle I got is aged 6 years, there is no listing for that. VERY interesting whisky, the malt really comes through but the new charred oak finish gives it some bourbon notes. This almost has a cherry cola thing going on. An excellent dram!

This is damn good. Very balanced, right over home plate. It’s just a classic bourbon flavor, very well executed.

Can’t say I’m really loving this one. A bit one note, sweet hot, sour.

EXCELLENT Irish single malt. It’s pretty classic Irish, but really well crafted.

Wow, this is REALLY nice. Hard to believe it’s all bourbon barrel aging, it comes off like theres sherry finishing at work. When I first pulled the cork and whiffed the bottle, I caught a bit of red wine. In the glass its all buttercream with some fruity notes, but on the pallet this could almost pass for a scotch in the vein of Glenfiddich/Glenlivet.

Best Tullamore Ive tasted, and for $70 it should be. Nose is honey and a bit floral. The flavor is all jam and biscuits with that same honey coming through. Finishes with that pot still funk typical of better irish whiskys. Now, heres the dilemma: Tullamore 14 is noticeably better than Tullamore 12...single malt vs a blend and 2 more years will do that. But Tully 12 is also regularly on sale for $42 so it’s really a question of value. This isn’t a knock against the 14 so much as the 12 really delivering a LOT for the price tag. Id definitely buy this again, but unlike the 12, I couldn’t quite see it as a go-to.

Fantastic stuff! I think these tasting notes are backwards though: definitely a straight up rye whisky but with a streak of jammy dark fruit sherry notes. Really unique and delicious.
