Monk's Road Fifth District Series Cold Springs Distillery
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed September 17, 2022Very light on the nose …. a bit of roasted peanut. Taste is very mild but just not a lot there. Very short finish. Nothing offensive but really nothing to get excited about especially for the price point. -
Jack Daniel's Triple Mash
Blended American Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed September 16, 2022 (edited October 30, 2022)Highly enjoyable. Definition banana note but not off puttingly sweet. Nice sipper that you can access at any stage of a tasting night as it does not drink thin and brings a nice measure of complexity at the price point.35.0 USD per Bottle -
James E. Pepper 1776 Straight Rye (100 Proof)
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Kentucky), USA
Reviewed September 16, 2022 (edited October 12, 2022)No nonesense rye. Nice example of what a straight rye whiskey should be at a reasonable price. No off putting notes and recommend to have on shelf30.0 USD per Bottle -
Deep and rich nose. Nice thickness to mouth feel. This drank very nicely despite the proof point. Definite rye notes but not to the extreme that can sometimes be off putting. Excellent example for someone who may be more of a bourbon drinker. This was the SWFL Bourbon Society pick.90.0 USD per Bottle

Stranahan's Original
American Single Malt — Colorado, USA
Reviewed September 11, 2022 (edited November 21, 2022)Actually bought this on clearance at Walmart at $20 on a whim. I normally stick to bourbon and rye, but this was a WTH pickup. So glad I did. The nose is a very pleasant apple note with faint sweet tea. Something you would expect maybe expect off of a brandy. The taste follows the nose where that apple note follows through with a shortish finish with just a touch of spice. This is definitely a buy another bottle at $50 when this runs out. Easy to sip and one to introduce to fellow bourbon drinkers as a change of pace21.0 USD per Bottle -
1792 Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 11, 2022 (edited October 29, 2022)High on the cinnamon through and through. So you really gotta like cinnamon to fully appreciate it. As such, I rate a tad lower the many. OK to have around but not one I grab for very often26.0 USD per Bottle -
Weller offers nothing extraordinary from a wheated bourbon. It’s quite traditional and score it down a bit due to some sharpness on the nose and taste that doesn’t always come across in the way most would rate as a positive note. Definitely one to have on hand and since it’s a BT product more sought after these days than probably is warranted. Don’t pay more than ~$22 MSRP as that’s what it drinks like.23.0 USD per Bottle

WhistlePig 6 Year PiggyBack Bourbon
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed September 11, 2022 (edited October 30, 2022)Nose is not a traditional bourbon. I get heavy nose of shucked sweet corn. Maybe with a touch of the husk smell . Some sweetness but not in the traditional sense. The taste is much more traditional with just a hint of the corn nose coming through. The best part by far is the finish… a medium to long finish with a nice peppery note that’s not overwhelming but in a pleasing manner. At about $40 it’s not one you necessarily need to try before you buy, bust just be aware of that strong corn note. Glad we own it for its uniqueness in the bourbon lineup.41.0 USD per Bottle
