When I bought this I thought I'd like it but not love it. Boy was I wrong! After disliking the Jameson Crested, what a suprise! How could a mix of an irish with a bourbon turn out so great? The smell is sweet and very round, it smells everything a good irish should smell like, cereals, butter biscuits and light spices, with something like bourbon influences. The charred barrels add greatness this whisky, in the form of red apples, berries and toasted caramel. I would buy it juste for the smell. The taste adds some cooked apples and quite strong oak to the taste. It tastes stronger than the typical Jameson. Maybe the palate does not quite stand up to the nose but that's ok. If you like Irish whisky and bourbon, definitely buy this!50.0 CAD per Bottle

John Barr Blended Scotch Reserve Blend
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed December 27, 2020 (edited March 13, 2022)Given the ridiculous price, I'm very happy with this blend as a daily drinker. I find it so close to the pricier Te Bheag that I stopped buying the latter. The nose has the same dirty feeling as the Te Bheag, there is definitely peat somewhere in the blend. Toffee is dominant with maybe a slight brininess. From the nose I would guess bourbon barrels were mainly used. A bit of oak is present as well. The palate is rather dark, the light peat and toffee are still there. While not being an explosion of flavours, it is juste enough for a daily drinker. Dried orange and christmans spices come to mind. On the scale of sweetness it is rather on the dry side. Definitely a value buy.30.0 CAD per Bottle -
Glen Scotia Double Cask Single Malt
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed December 23, 2020 (edited June 12, 2021)This one definitely has a lot of character. There is a weird almost unpleasant aspect to it, like rotten banana, that cost it some points. That being said it is very unique, very dark with a maritime influence. Dark malt, chocolate and brine. Fruits are there, plum and a hint of overripe banana, but it is in the background. The 15y is definitely a huge upgrade, but this is a great introduction to the Distillery.65.0 CAD per Bottle -
A very interesting whisky, hated it for the 5 first glasses, starting to like it now. There is a weird wax smell that some users mentioned that faded with time, thank god. Whiskies with such a corn dominance are not that common, this a nice example. The Nikka Coffey Grain is a glorified version of this. Well worth a taste, although I would not recommend it if it is your only bottle. Great price point.40.0 CAD per Bottle

Woodford Reserve Double Oaked
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 12, 2020 (edited January 12, 2021)This shit is crazy. This is one of the most intense whiskies I have tasted. it already smells strong, but the taste is something else. Intense and woody. Cherries and a pile of slightly burnt oak planks. Burnt caramel. Large sips make it shine, it brings out the wood to the point of bitterness.72.0 CAD per Bottle -
Knappogue Castle 12 Year Bourbon Cask Matured
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed January 12, 2020 (edited January 12, 2021)Nose: Very fresh, lively and fruity. On the first nose you'll get the smell of the small green apple candies they give in some asian restaurants. Some pear and yellow apple. Hints of fresh oak. Palate: Delicate or rather refined, notes of malt and variations of oak. Buttery texture. Finish: Light, a hint of figs maybe. 3.75+0.25 because of price/quality55.0 CAD per Bottle -
Needs some time to open up. Does not really live up to the hype in my opinion. It's good but not that good Nose: Pears cooked with spices. Nutmeg and sweet charred wood. Wonderful smell, so profound and comforting. Something nutty too. Palate: Malt, tannins. Sweet with woody spices. Continuity with the nose. Very aromatic and delicious.80.0 CAD per Bottle

Glenlivet Founder's Reserve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 5, 2020 (edited January 12, 2020)Received as a gift and had low expectations. I must say it won me over. Nose: Malt and pear, oak and walnut. Maybe a tad floral? Smells strong and very good. Palate: Surprisingly tasty given the abv. Malt and wood. Sweetness is lower than expected. Finish: Short. A bit of oak and then nothing. Try it with a few drops of water (again, surprisingly). One of my favorite daily drinkers so far.52.0 CAD per Bottle
