Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 8, 2019 (edited April 26, 2019)Chewy with great dried fruit notes. Super dark and heavy. The heat on this isn’t overpowering at all and is perfect really. Getting some roasted nuts on the finish with great spice. This is great! -
Fine deal at $45 but don’t think I’d wanna spend much more. Hot on the nose with a touch of smoke along with caramel and some kind of fruit like stewed peaches or red berries. Sherry bomb for sure; lots of fruit. Don’t have much experience with completely sherry ages scotches but I enjoy this despite the initial alcohol nose44.99 USD per Bottle

Evan Williams Black Label
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 10, 2019 (edited January 15, 2019)After resting ten minutes there’s a bunch of ethanol on the nose along with some warm baking spices and sweetener of some type. The mouthfeel is big and a bit harsh. Tastes kinda like a Chic-O-Stick. A touch of water brings out a bitter note. For a similar price I’d rather have the 1783.13.0 USD per Bottle -
Coconut on the nose along with something I couldn’t before describe (until I read other reviews calling it old banana). It smells like a banana cream pie my dad used to make where he would use overripe bananas. I don’t dislike it but it’s definitely odd. Palate is on the thin side and a bit hot for 80 proof. Brown banana flavor lingers on the finish with a substantial amount of oak. It’s an odd one for sure. I don’t hate it but won’t be buying another bottle. I’d say it was worth a one time $35 expenditure and will keep it around for friends to try as it is at least unique.35.0 USD per Bottle

Ransom Whippersnapper
Other Whiskey — Oregon, USA
Reviewed January 4, 2019 (edited February 16, 2019)Baking spices and tropical fruit on the nose. Wow the palate is quite nice. The mouthfeel is thicker and the palate tastes like baked dessert. I’m not good enough to pick flavor notes out but it’s super unique palate. -
