Nose: Spices, malt, red fruits Palate: Malt, sea salt, red fruits Finish: Spices, pepper and a hint of salted butter I really don’t get much peat smoke on this. I find the nose quite muted compared to other Port Charlotte whiskies but the nose and palate open up more with a little bit of water. 7.5/10

Nose: Subtle smoke, surprisingly delicate Palate: Peat smoke, citrus, hint of salt Finish: A hint of mint and smoke Really tasty, a good Caol Ila 7.5/10

Nose: Brine, vanilla, soft peat Palate: Soft and creamy vanilla, peat smoke Finish: More peat, peppery heat, hint of lime I like this slightly more than the regular Caol Ila 12 Year Old. 7.5/10

Nose: Sea air, honey Palate: Brown sugar, anise, pepper, hint of peat smoke Finish: Peppery and coastal with a hint of peat smoke A good whisky but I prefer the smoky, citrus and maritime notes of Caol Ila 12 Year Old 6.5/10

Nose: Light citrus, hint of smoke Palate: Fresh, fruity flavours - citrus and white grape. Light peat smoke Finish: Soft smoke, slight pepper prickliness The moscatel influence is very subtle, this just tastes slightly fruitier than the 12 Year Old Caol Ila (which I really enjoy). 7.5/10

Nose: Peat smoke, coffee beans, dark sugar Palate: Rich, dried fruits, peat smoke, malt Finish: Peat smoke, dark sugar, hint of coffee Really good balance of peat, sweetness and high proof. 8.5/10

Nose: Butterscotch, subtle citrus, hint of smoke Palate: Peat smoke, flapjacks, black tea Finish: Treacle and smoke Tasty, not as good as Ardbeg 10. 7/10

Nose: Beach bonfire with a bit of lemon sweetness Palate: Lemon and brine - reminds me of olives marinated in lemon - with smoke in the background Finish: Long and peppery with soft smoke. This is delicious but expensive. 8/10

Nose: Seaweed and peat smoke, tropical fruits Palate: Peppery and smoky, with grilled pineapple behind the pepper Finish: Long and warming, pepper and smoke This is delicious, I actually prefer it to the regular 10 year old. 8.5/10

Nose: Lightly smoky, maybe a hint of apple Palate: A bit of apple sweetness and gentle smoke. This is really delicate. Finish: Short finish with apple and a bit of peppery heat. This was less smoky and more delicate than I’d expected. I assumed it would have a bit more bite for the proof but maybe the age has softened it. 6/10
