Palate: strong fruitiness, like a baked/stewed fruit. a sweet, chewy maltiness. Slight nuttiness, a strong sherry flavor too. Decent caramel. So incredibly smooth, goes down like water. Not really getting the smoke here, maybe a tiny bit on the mid palate Finish: mild oak bitterness, a bit of spiciness from the sherry cask.

Laphroaig 10 Year Cask Strength (Batch 15)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed April 8, 2023 (edited September 20, 2024)Nose: it is definitely the 10, but with an amped up heat alcohol. Palate: amped up malt notes from the 10. Finish: sweeter malt notes. -
Nose: compared to the 18 hits me with a ton of rubber and tar. Medicinal notes come out strongk. A bit Palate: the peat and smoke hit heavy, much more prominently featured than the 18. Stewed fruit, particularly pears. Some molasses. As you sit with it a malt sweetness opens up. Finish: phenolic, stays with you with a nice rubber note.

Nose: a bit of stonefruit, floral sweetness. Slight bit of earthy peatyness and distant smoke. A hint of malt sweetness. Mild burnt oak. Some vanilla too. Palate: definitely getting oak here. Peat and smoke are definitely stronger here than the nose, but they dont hit as hard as the 10. Definitely a fruitiness here as well, john says nectarine. Some prominent floral elements here. A nice singe to it. Finish: smooth, not as phenolic as a 10 but its still there lingering a bit. Getting a lot of malt. Empty glass nose: charred oak.

Getting maple, vanilla, caramel, oak, and a bit of spice/cinnamon on the nose. Getting a nice fruitiness on the palate, with a bit of malt chewiness. Getting hints of berries and cream. Getting some mild oak bitterness on the palate, a bit of caramel. This bottle has definitely lost some ABV but still smooth and beautiful.

Rich and dense. Definitely getting a strong pepper note out of this both on palate and the nose, along with smoked bacon and some sea air on the nose. Theres some deep, dark notes to it as well getting a hint of bitter chocolate. Theres some woody bitterness as well. Balanced well between sweet and smoky. A subtle sweetness emerges as you keep sipping. A nice peaty smoky punch throughout. Ham and some honey on the palate. Adding a few drops of water brings out some fruit notes on the nose, mainly a red apple, definitely accents the honey note on the palate. Clears the smoke a bit to give you the brighter side of the whisky, but also brings in a pronounced wood note along with ash and tobacco
