Nose: Light fruitiness, vanilla, slight malt, buttery Nose After Swirl: much lighter and fruitier Pallete: Medium-thick mouthfeel, tastes sort of like an aged... old honey, slight pear after the sweetness, small amounts of oakiness Finish: long finish begins wet and ends dry, a classic blended scotch flavor.
-
Nose: Extremely smoky, smells like the inside of a BBQ smoker after a long day, brown sugar BBQ sweetness... Sweet Baby Ray's, a rainy bean-cookin' day, Cedar Nose After Swirl: deep and dark fruit, dark chocolate, lighter wood Pallete: Medium mouthfeel. Fruit is almost completely gone, slight dark chocolate, cacao nibs, much more oaky-cedar on the tongue, smoked peat complexity. Finish: Lingers on the back of the tongue, bitter and dry as it disappears over time.50.0 USD per Bottle

Nose: Honeysuckle, toffee, cacao nibs Nose after swirl: Crushed red grape, nice oak, beautiful sherry sweetness, dark chocolate Palate: Mid-thick mouthfeel, light, airy, berries, slight oakiness Finish: Light oak (surprising for a 25YO), dryness increases over time, weirdly... smoked brisket (like the char on burnt tips BBQ)160.0 USD per Bottle

Virginia Distillery Co. Courage & Conviction Cuvée Cask
American Single Malt — Virginia, USA
Reviewed November 13, 2021 (edited November 22, 2021)Nose: Dark red cherry, spicy wood, black pepper, leather, slight sweetness (honey maybe?), oak, a little musty. Nose after swirl: Fruit comes out much more, dried orange peel, you can really smell the wine that was in the casks this single malt was aged in. Palette: Beautiful dark flavor profile that balances the light flavors; simultaneous citrus, salted caramel, berry preserves, deep red wine, and earthy notes... very slight ethanol heat, medium mouthfeel. Finish: Deeper burnt notes overtake the lighter flavors on the finish. -
Glenfiddich 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 13, 2021 (edited November 22, 2021)Nose: Liquid caramel sweetness, fresh-cut apple. Nose after swirl: The apple juice stayed but comes with a slight brine, honeycomb, pear. Palette: Simple, but not bland at all. Sweet (but not too sweet), very little wood & smoke, the apple juice stays from the nose. Finish: Just more of the pallete, very slightly more wood/smoke. Overall a great entry-level or daily sipper Scotch. -
Glenlivet 14 Year Cognac Cask Selection
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 13, 2021 (edited December 21, 2021)Nose: Ludicrously, I'm getting grape hard candy on the nose followed by butter and honey. Plum even? Nose after swirl: Much milder earthy, almond-y nose. Palette: Dry, almost woody on the palate but then that sweet fruit comes through (very mildly). Slightly malty, not too much. Finish: doubles down on the wood, just like the 12yo. -
Nose: Fascinating rich nose, ripe fruit and honey. Nose after swirl: Some dried fig, teeny tiny bit of brine. Palette: Nose comes through on the pallete with some oaky dryness. Some intricacies to the pallete that I honestly can't pinpoint, but I love that. Medium-thin mouthfeel. Finish: Dry oak finish.

Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 6, 2021 (edited November 20, 2021)Incredible nose like a burnt peanut butter s'more. Palette is very disappointing; nothing like the nose. Taste falls flat and seems almost dull, especially right after giving your dram a good whiff.55.0 USD per Bottle -
