Bladnoch 11 Year (2022 Release)
Single Malt — Lowlands , Scotland
Reviewed August 19, 2023 (edited August 29, 2023)A very underrated bottle. It has an aethereal light quality that must be the California wine finish. It also reminds me of a very good Irish whiskey (maybe the ex-bourbon cask?) Gets the nod over Craigellachie 13 and Bruichladdich Islay-Barley for now. -
Journeyman Distillery Corsets, Whips & Whiskey
Wheat Whiskey — Michigan, USA
Reviewed August 18, 2023 (edited January 28, 2024)Creamy, chocolate, slightly spicy and tannic, and when you add a few drops of water to tame the 57.5 proof, it goes down so smooth like an iced oatmeal cookie. I can mostly understand why it won Ascot's whiskey of the year with its complexity and uniqueness.67.0 USD per Bottle -
Lightly-peated scotches are a strange animal to me maybe because they can come across very earthy, but Compass Box can seemingly do no wrong. Honey melds into that solid peat note perfectly, and the mouthfeel is as smooth as can be. I could see raising this to 4 stars based on its value.38.0 USD per Bottle
