Having been a fan of both Bulleit's standard Rye and Bourbon, I was excited to try their age stated line and it did not disappoint. The flavor was quite mild with a nose of cinnamon, vanilla and spice, all of which continue into the taste. Strongest of which seems to me to be the spice from the rye which quickly mellow into sweet and vanilla and finally a smooth finish that makes the bourbon quite drinkable. All around enjoyable, I would definitely buy again.

Del Maguey VIDA Mezcal
Mezcal Joven — Oaxaca, Mexico
Reviewed December 30, 2015 (edited January 10, 2021)I was introduced to mezcal through my local mixologist and was suggested this as a solid entry choice. The Smoky, oily and iodine notes come though reminiscent of some of my favorite islays. Mellow nose of lime, flowers and salt. Taste is mild with the aforementioned which transitions into a mind citrus and maybe honey. The more i drink the father it drifts towards tequila and away from my beloved islays. Absolutely loved the journey -
Russell's Reserve 6 Year Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 27, 2015 (edited February 3, 2016)The nose comes in mellow and sweet with brown sugar, vanilla and spice. Taste begins sweet and caramel and transitions to the pepper, cinnamon and spice I've come to expect from most ryes. The finish becomes somewhat herbal and strong oak and a little savory all the while remaining remarkably smooth.
