Ive got the second edition bottling with a touch more Clynelish in the blend. This is just fruity and wonderful!! I get a touch of butterscotch with the plethora of fruit on both nose and palate or it might be apricot mixed in with the obvious apple, pear and citrus. This is readily available, relatively affordable and wonderful. A definite recommendation for a scotch lover or even someone who isnt that into whisky.

Im going to start with a controversial statement…..I think this is a better whisky than the Ledaig 10. On the nose it herbal and floral with green apples and pears in the background. Its a great nose and makes me want to keep my nose in the glass to pick out more and more…. On the palate it has a fairly oily mouthfeel. The flavors are herbal with underlying green apple and pear and barley sugar….maybe a bit of kiwi in there too. A good balance of herbal and sweet that makes it very moreish. If you see this pick it up!!

Westland Garryana 2020 Edition 5
American Single Malt — Washington, USA
Reviewed March 25, 2023 (edited March 26, 2023)This is a very interesting dram….woody and spicy in a very pleasant way with a very nice mouthfeel and maybe a light touch of peat. This reminds me quite alot of of the Amrut Fusion. -

Uncle Nearest 1856 Tennessee Whiskey (Sourced Whiskey)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed March 21, 2023This is not bad at all…barrel spicy opening with a nice mouthfeel that fades to a long lasting vanilla finish. -
I dare say the hype is real with this one! For my taste I’d put this above any of the core range peated 10s or 12s. Character wise I’d put this somewhere between Laphroaig 10 and Ardbeg 10……not quite as medicinal as the Laphroaig and not as campfire as Ardbeg but with the nutty character I get from the Ardbeg Corryvreckan. When the need for some peat comes up the Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength is still my go to but this strikes me as an easier drinking Ardbeg Corryvreckan…..that is to say, absolutely wonderful.

Craigellachie 13 Year Armagnac Cask Finish
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed March 10, 2023 (edited March 11, 2023)To start, I’m definitely a fan of the Craigallachie 13 and I’m giving this the same score as I gave my beloved 13. Nose: If you are familiar with the normal Craigallachie 13 this is nearly indistinguishable on the nose. Just a touch less spikey and a very small hint of darker fruit. All the wonderful intense light fruit with an industrial backbone is definitely still there. Palate: I was doing a back to back A-B comparison with the original 13 and this is very close. Mouthfeel is still very oily. A touch less bright and intense than the original 13 but with an the added depth of leather and dark fruit, like plum. The industrial, almost diesel like, backbone is still there and is still wonderful. Finish: This is where the Bas-Armangnac really shows up. The finish is still quite long but a fair amount darker and richer with some more spice than the original 13. Thoughts: The original 13 feels more appropriate for spring/summer and the Bas-Arnamgnac feels more appropriate for fall/winter. Both very, very nice.
