Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 19, 2019 (edited November 3, 2019)-Part of the Distiller Top Single Barrels under $100- -
Nose: dry with noticeable ethanol but quickly turns to biscuity & hearty grain bread Palate: initial heat up front leads to a mixing of both nutty & spicy w/burnt sugar notes. Finish: moderately long, heat is manageable & spice is nice. 115proof deceives - approachable & pleasant but will creep up on you.

Glass: dark amber, deep & inviting Nose: rolling notes between light fruit, vanilla and definite char & Oak Palate: seems richer than 1870 but shy of 1897. The light fruit and sugars are evident but it is the woody notes that stand out. Finish: shorter yet satisfying Great whiskey. *Edit: after a return visit I have discovered just what a treat this whisky is. Score bumped.*
