True to Laphroaig's words, they have been diving opinions of my friends whom I've been sharing drams of this fine liquid with; half of them have gagged while the other half have grown quite fond of this whisky. Tasting like barbecue and a kelp forest, I think there is hardly any better drink to accompany dinner.

After burning off my nose hair, I was rewarded by the smell of peanut brittle, chocolate, and tangy fruits reminiscent of underripe strawberries and oranges which carried through into the taste. I was told that this particular batch has a "brittle" mouthful, and I can see how as it feels like having cracking liquid peanut brittle in your mouth. Loved this so much, I went out to buy a second bottle after several drams.

Weller Special Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 17, 2018 (edited March 21, 2018)Apples, honey, caramel, and leather in that order. Although I found this a bit inconsistent, I sometimes get a strange savory antiseptic taste at the beginning of a new dram. It's a steal if you are lucky enough to find this for $15 at your local Total Wine. -
For the love of God, please stop gifting this to your friends who love whisk(e)y. Odds are that if they're into whisky, they've already had much better whisky - Canadian and non-Canadian - within the same price point or a few dollars extra. This tastes generic in the sadder sense and can come off quite rough on the taste. If they're new to whisky and are interested, there are much smoother, friendlier, and better-tasting whisky out there. If I would recommend this for anything, it would to have as a mixer, for your run-of-the-mill college parties, and as a reference point for better Canadian whisky; On the merit of the latter, I would give this whisky a 1.5-2, but because of my outstanding grudge against this, I'll leave the distiller.com rating at 1.
