Green Spot Single Pot Still
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed January 27, 2018 (edited July 21, 2018)Had to come back to this whiskey several times and each time was more enjoyable than the last. The first things I noticed on the nose were cereal and honey followed by cake frosting and a variety of fruit including red apples, a healthy amount of pears, and some very slight toasted coconut. A lot of the flavors on the nose translate really well into the palate with the cereal, apples, and pear coming through in that order leaving with a light fruity sweetness on the aftertaste . If I were to be nitpicky, I'd giving this a 4.5 with some points off for the rather short finish. A very sweet, friendly, and lovely whiskey which I'd give to beginners as their 2nd to 4th whisk(e)y if I am willing to put out the extra dollar ($45 where I live). -
Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 27, 2018 (edited July 21, 2018)The nose on this I find a bit less that expected with the usual Speyside of butterscotch and honey with some hints of a light rum. The palate however is much more interesting with an initial hit of the butterscotch and honey followed by green unripe mango in the mid palate and freshly pressed sugarcane juice ending with some pineapple. This whisky tapers off at the end and doesn't leave much of an aftertaste. I would consider this a 3.5. -
