Tastes

Biscuity, a bit spicy, with some cinnamon and clove in the finish. Drinks okay neat, better on the rocks. Mixes very well with ginger ale.

Notes of vanilla, burnt caramel, and leather in the nose. On the palate, big notes of smoked meat, more caramel, and dark cherry lead into a bitter finish of vanilla, roasted corn, and ash. There's a weird clash between sweet and bitter in the aftertaste, and I find myself relishing it. It's a monster, but it hides the 106 proof fairly well for such an aggressive dram.

A rich marriage of smoke, spice, and fruit. Peppery finish.

Vanilla, nutmeg, and grain on the nose leads to a palate of caramel, baking spice, toasted oak, and a spicy finish of licorice and wisps of smoke. Hot for 80 proof, definitely recommend a splash of water or an ice cube. At this price point, I think I prefer Grants, or Red Label for a few bucks more.

Caramel, butterscotch, and dried flowers on the nose. Palate bursts with fresh oak, spice, vanilla, and just a hint of cherry. Very enjoyable and easy to drink neat, and I'd imagine it would be great in cocktails as well.

Had to put a bit of water on it to calm down the hot finish. Really opened it up, revealing vanilla, musty leather, and a waft of smoke in the nose. The palate reveals multiple layers of smoke, part reminiscent of a campfire, and part smoked meat. Tons of spice in a finish that lingers. Not bad by any means, but not my favorite peated dram.

Restrained peat, toffee, brine, and a bit of pepper with a modestly spicy finish. Great value.
