80% of what I find in Old Weller Antique. The vanilla and licorice are turned up and there is fruit hiding also. The same high octane 107 proof and mashbill as OWA but the age smooths it and brings the wood more forward. Nice hot cinnamon finish. If you can't find it get a bottle of OWA and you will have the base taste profile.

Pappy Van Winkle 20 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 29, 2017 (edited October 14, 2017)SBS taste of all 5 Pappys. The 20 was voted best unanimously by all 12. Great evening of food, drink and fellowship. Nose was sweet molasses with oak and new leather. Taste of maple syrup on French Toast. Red berries and hint of banana underneath. Very soft and easy with a cedar and mint fresh finish. Over hyped? No, it's excellent and every bourbon drinker should take advantage if the opportunity comes. -
The same dark autumn brown you would expect from a 12yr+ barrel strength. Nice nose of dark red fruit, oak and caramel. Taste comes on with more of the same with a hint of citrus underneath. Has a full thick mouthfeel that oily warm. Very nice. Finish doesn't disappoint with a baking spice that's not too heavy but smooths over a long moment. Much more here to work with than the standard Woodford. I give this one high marks.

A wonderful starter for an extended drinking time. -
Rebel Yell 10 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 4, 2016 (edited January 1, 2017)This one is a BUY when you find it. Nose is delicious fruit cake, almonds, and corn. Taste is more of the same with sparkled orange marmalade. Finish is long with spicy wood and a hint of mint. Very smooth like a wheater should be. Would stand against the BT contenders. -
Weller 12 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 22, 2016 (edited December 30, 2016)The quintessential unicorn that CAN BE FOUND in Oct-Nov every year. Find a store with volume and buy your boose there. Smooth, rich, and oily. Consistent year after year, with wet molasses, vanilla, maple syrup, and nuts. Outstanding and highly sought after for good reasons. A+ whiskey. -
Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Brandy Cask Finish
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 20, 2016Taste young even with the 2 years in Brandy. Must have been real young before second cast? Astringent with spice and rye. (Yes I know it's wheat-but I taste rye)Pear and fruit up front followed with cinnamon. Like other Masters not anything special and not worth the BIG premium price. -
