Johnnie Walker Green Label 15 Year
Blended Malt — Scotland
Reviewed April 21, 2021 (edited September 3, 2021)So usually i'm the cheap guy that doesn't spend more than $40-$50 on any bottles of anything unless a special occasion but for some reason i really wanted this bottle of Johnnie because i read so many outstanding reviews and it is the furthest thing from the regular Johnnie lineup and said to be the best as well. From the start my mouth fell in love with this amazing pour. It has so many flavors going around as i swirl it in my mouth. I get touches of peat, earthy flavors that I've never tasted, and some sweet notes such as green apple. I'm glad i splurged and spent the $65 on this because it is an amazingly good pour that lived up to the hype in my opinion. 4/21/2165.0 USD per Bottle -
Bunnahabhain 12 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed April 21, 2021 (edited December 16, 2021)Another good find for me on the clearance rack at a local ABC liquor store. This one was not as smoky as i'd like and had a bit of a bite on the end. Though this has the typical Islay flavor the smoke is very muted. I taste green apples, honey, and some floral flavors which all disappear pretty quickly. For the price i paid for this I'm not upset but if I paid full price for this bottle it would be a bit of a let down for me. It's a solid scotch but for the price point there are many other great options on the market for Islays. Talisker, Ardbeg, Laphroaig, even JW Green label all surpass this Bunna. 4/21/2134.0 USD per Bottle -
First off I'd like to thank Walmart for having this on clearance so i could buy 4 bottles of it for $30 each. Yes, $30 each. Thank you! This is an amazing Islay with some beautiful light smoke that just lingers after you roll it around your mouth. The smell is peat with some sweet fruit scents. I can't figure out the exact fruit but it's a sweet smell to me. The flavor just lasts forever in your mouth. Nothing a good bourbon can do or at least none that I've been able to find that can do it. I can't get enough of this nice smoky peat flavor. I think i'm officially moving towards scotch and away from the bourbons after having some really great drams of single malts lately. 4/21/2130.0 USD per Bottle

291 Colorado Rye Whiskey Maple Syrup Barrel
Rye — USA
Reviewed March 11, 2021 (edited December 11, 2022)This is absolutely amazing! If you know what an Aspen tree smells like this tastes like one but with some Maple sweetness to smooth it out. The proof tastes no where near the 61.7ABV thats in the bottle. This isn’t an everyday whiskey but if you want to go out on a limb and leave the traditional flavors and find something much different, this is it. For $105 a bottle you get a VERY limited handmade local batch flavor of true Colorado whiskey. So glad I got a chance to have this shared with me. 3/11/21 -
Have a generous friend who has a few of the harder to find bottles of things and I saw this one in the collection so I asked for a dram knowing I like HW products. This one to me was I put it bluntly.... quite a let down. It was very uninteresting and pretty bland. It tasted very young with too much bite. Unfortunately I have to give this one less than 3 stars which breaks my heart knowing how much I enjoy the HW products.

What a contrast to other rums I’ve had. I really really enjoy this. Banana, banana, banana. If you don’t like bananas stay away from this rum. I will agree with most reviews and say that this is certainly a sweet rum but it’s so enjoyable. If you don’t like sweet this ones not for you. As others also mentioned this isn’t a daily sipper, this is more of a dessert sipper on occasion or in fruity summer drink it would excel. Stepping away from the bourbon/whiskey craziness and getting back to other spirits has been great. I can find great bottles for $20-$40 and not have to chase them. The Bumbu gets a thumbs up from me although this could be labeled as banana flavored liqueur with rum flavor. 2/24/21

After having tasted the Doorly’s 12 I had to try the rest If the lineup. For $17 this is an absolute steal of a bottle. Early the same tasting notes as the 12 but just a smidge of a “harsher” edge. Don’t take that as it being harsh but only that it’s not as well rounded as the 12. Next up on the list to purchase is the R.L. Seale 10 and Doorly 8 which are both very reasonably priced.17.0 USD per Bottle

After tasting this I was not impressed. Was expecting a bit more from it. Jumping back into the rum game I wanted to taste more “sweetness” but this was a weird brown sugar/trying too hard sweetness. Reminded me of getting a coffee and then using the brown sugar packets instead of the white ones. Sure maybe it’s my fault because of my taste profile but trying this a best to two other rum products this was not even close in terms of taste. Last rum I had before this was diplomatico reserva and it was literally a sugar bomb (didn’t like it at all). This Abuelo is an acquired brown sugar taste. Next to El Dorado 12 and Dooly’s 12 to me this didn’t stand a chance. This Abuelo rum will be the guest rum going forward.... Sorry guests, you’re not getting the good stuff.

This stuff is dangerous. During this bourbon craze I decided to go back to my roots of tequila and rum where I can find exceptional bottles for reasonable prices. This 12 year El Dorado is unlike any rum I’ve had with a sweetness and amazing taste that is hard to beat for under $30. My next scoop will be a foursquare to see if it’s worth the price and hype surrounding it. 1/17/2129.99 USD per Bottle
