It has everything you want from an Islay. All the smoke but it has more fruit on the palate than most of the other Islay such as Ardbeg or Laphroaig. I actually prefer this to the 16yr at about $50 less per bottle. Next to the Kilchoman Sanaig and Port Charlotte 10yr, this is my favorite Islay and easier to find or cheaper than either of those. A great place to start on your peated Scotch journey. Cheers!53.0 USD per Bottle

Bird Dog 7 Year Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 9, 2022 (edited August 14, 2023)Easy sipper. Nothing too distinct but nothing off either. Coming in with a 7yr age statement at 88 proof with this price point, you could do much worse. I'd happily bring this to a party with the age statement alone but I also imagine nobody just getting into whiskey would be mad about it but I also suspect any Bourbon drinker wouldn't be disappointed with the pour either. Cheers!25.0 USD per Bottle -
Leopold Bros. 5 Year Bottled in Bond Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Colorado, USA
Reviewed December 27, 2021 (edited June 14, 2022)You definitely pick up the malted barley in the mashbill in both the nose and the taste. It has a fresh grassy flavor in a good way along with a lot of the standard Bourbon notes. It is doing something different though in a mashbill I've never seen before with 20% malted barley being the second grain. I like when there's a Bourbon that does something different because so many of them offer very similar notes on the palate and this one did not disappoint. Cheers!57.0 USD per Bottle -
Balcones Texas Pot Still Bourbon
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed December 1, 2021 (edited February 18, 2023)While labeled a Bourbon it seems to be wholly its own thing. Not sure if it's the pot still or something else that brings out much more malty and heavy flavors to me than other Bourbons but as primarily a Scotch or Irish drinker it's a very welcome note. If someone is a hardcore Bourbon drinker this distinct divergence in flavor profile may be a turnoff but for those Bourbon drinkers looking for something distinct and different as well as delicious this could be a good one for them to try. Price point is a plus too. Cheers!31.0 USD per Bottle -
Rough Rider Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — New York, USA
Reviewed October 26, 2021 (edited October 17, 2022)The expert review is spot on. Honey roasted peanut/nuttiness with the influence of the wine barrels apparent. Add standard bourbon notes and they all lead to a delicious dram. Cheers!35.0 USD per Bottle -
I was very surprised by this bottle. I purchased it with little information and not much expectation, looking for an Irish since I hadn't bought one in a while, I snagged this on a whim. Upon first pour the nose was amazing, standard in some respect to a good Irish but this was a nose near Green Spot level which is my ultimate Irish expression. Apples and cereal are what usually come to mind with a good Irish and this delivers. The taste also delivered on the promise of the nose, presenting both flavors I detected but rounding out to a malty, somewhat oaky finish that held on for a long time. I tasted it directly against a new West Cork Black Reserve bottle, where I was expecting that type of finish on and this blew it out of the water. I highly recommend giving this a try if you can find it.36.0 USD per Bottle

Town Branch Single Malt
American Single Malt — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 27, 2021 (edited July 22, 2022)Malt and cereal. If I tasted this blind I would actually think it was a Speyside. Very impressed by this offering. It doesn't have as many floral notes as Balcones Lineage or Stranahan's Blue Peak but I keep coming back to this one more than them. Subsequent sips have brought out molasses and milk chocolate. Would definitely recommend if you can find it and I appreciate the age statement. Updated rating from 3.75 to 4.25: This expression keeps getting better with each bottle I get. I now get tropical notes, like a ripe mango along with all the other tasting notes. I've taken it to multiple functions and converted people that say they don't like whiskey to wanting to get a bottle. It's simply a great whiskey. Cheers!35.0 USD per Bottle -
Wolfburn Northland
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 2, 2021 (edited November 4, 2022)Upon first tasting, I was very underwhelmed by this whisky and thought I had wasted my money on a pick that will sit on my shelf for a long time. All I got was heavy alcohol burn and very little else, as bad as any young whisky I've had. I re-visited a week after the initial opening and was pleasantly surprised that either my palate was off that day or the bottle changed completely. It was still an obviously young whisky but it now presented with green apple, oak, and a little smoke in a nice balanced way; a drop of water or a cube almost completely cut the alcohol burn. I don't think it's quite where it needs to be as it's still a young one but it shows great potential for future bottles from this distillery and as it stands is very drinkable.29.0 USD per Bottle -
Willett Family Estate Small Batch Rye 4 Year
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 2, 2021 (edited April 1, 2021)The tasting notes were right on for this one and it's delicious. As good as any Rye I've had and while it's rare where I live making the price a little higher I would happily pay it again to keep on hand and show people what Rye is capable of, maybe to even remind me after I pick a bad one. Cheers!57.0 USD per Bottle
