Auchentoshan The Bartender's Malt
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 2, 2021 (edited December 28, 2021)This was my first foray into anything Auchentoshan and if it's any indication of their quality I will be trying others. Extremely drinkable with just a wisp of smoke and a long chocolate malt finish. I got this at a very advantageous price that I do not suspect is normal at $25 but would definitely have been happy even if I paid $40 for it. I suspect that even people that say they don't like Scotch would be surprised by the flavor profile and would drink it down. I would buy this again. Cheers!25.0 USD per Bottle -
I was happily surprised by this one. Whether it is fair or not I look at Irish Whiskey as Green Spot and then everything else. It may even be blasphemous to say but I prefer the flavor profile to that of the hallowed Redbreast 12. While Irish Whiskey shares a lot of similar tasting notes, the green apple and almond/marzipan I pick up in Green Spot aren't always as present in other Irish. This had all those same notes to the point where I would easily say makes it as close to Green Spot as I've tasted at half the price. This is the highest compliment I can give it beyond that it is delicious. I will definitely try and find again and buy it anytime I see it. Cheers!30.0 USD per Bottle

Willett Pot Still Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 29, 2021 (edited February 22, 2021)Very floral nose and very smooth on the taste for it's strength. Drop of water really opens it up, marzipan, cherry, almond. Reminded me a little of Green Spot after the water but with more bite as you'd expect which is strange but in a good way. I think it's that lingering marzipan/almond that blooms after the water. The finish is really long and lingers with hints of tobacco and leather. Price was right for a classic bourbon and I've definitely paid more for less quality. Update: Started to get an earthy/vegetal note that was a little off-putting. A few drops of water still help. It's become a strange bottle because I seem to get a different experience each time.41.0 USD per Bottle -
Green Spot Single Pot Still
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed January 17, 2021 (edited March 8, 2022)You get green apple and caramel/toffee on the nose. On the taste the green apple comes through and a marzipan note of sweetness that finishes off with an almond nuttiness. This is one of my top five all-time favorite whiskies. It's a little on the expensive side but is worth every penny.60.0 USD per Bottle -
Starts off with alcohol on the nose which I would expect at 90 proof but after it sits for a while I get almonds and cherries. It's got a little bit of bite but again, to be expected at 90 proof. Then it opens up quite a bit. Sticks with the almond and cherries, it actually reminded me a little of Rittenhouse with the cherry and spice but definitely more almond, almost like a good Irish. The sherry finish really comes through at the end to round it out. Definitely unique and punching above its weight price wise.24.0 USD per Bottle

Balcones Lineage Texas Single Malt
American Single Malt — Texas, USA
Reviewed January 13, 2021 (edited January 24, 2021)Heavy floral notes on the nose. That follows through on the sip but eventually gives way to more complex flavors but for me, they're hard to nail down. Has a sense of sweetness but not in a sugar-heavy way like a Bourbon. It ends on a cherry note but more black cherry than maraschino. Very unique flavor, in a wholly good way. You could definitely surprise some people with this whiskey, I would imagine most have not tried anything quite like it.37.0 USD per Bottle -
There is definitely a difference between Canadian, American and Irish Rye. This has the pepper and spice with a little more sweetness than an American Rye. At the price, you can't go wrong. Depending on what you're using a Rye for, they'll all make a great Old Fashioned you may as well as go for one that works as a mixer and as a straight dram.19.0 USD per Bottle

Teacher's Highland Cream
Blended — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 2, 2021 (edited April 10, 2022)I can't believe the quality of this whisky at this price point. Sweet and smokey, toffee and honey comes to mind throughout the experience. It's as good as any budget whisky I've had, I will keep on hand at all times going forward. Good for the last drink of the night and likely good enough to convert non-Scotch drinkers.21.0 USD per Bottle
