Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Wheated Bourbon (2024 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 25, 2026I’ve always been a HH fan, from their base offering to Larceny which is one of my favorites. The GTG series is a step above. The Wheated Bourbon is one of the smoothest high ABVs Ive ever tasted. Not overky complex it’s a dance of cinnamon and cherry with a tiny dab of heat. If it has a fault, it could be viewed as too smooth. -
Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 19, 2025 (edited November 1, 2025)Picked up a bottle at my favorite local place. This smooth dram is filled with floral notes, cherries, cinnamon, honey and spice. The finish is surprisingly smooth and dry. I wish the finish wasn’t so short, otherwise a nice bottle that can be enjoyed neat or on the rocks. -
Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 31, 2025 (edited September 3, 2025)A staple for home bars. The original single barrel is complex and well balanced with a smoke and sweetness. Tobacco, vanilla and some chocolate blend nicely with a sticky smooth finish. A great value.. -
Larceny Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch B524
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 30, 2025 (edited June 2, 2026)I’ve been a fan of Larceny small batch releases since 2022. Ive tried some of the sweeter and some of the spicier batches from A through C. I’ve leaned towards the B releases as they are better balanced, A batches leaning spicier and C batches not hitting the mark. Up until this release, B523 was my favorite batch and B524 exceeds that, finding another level and sets the bar for my favorite bottle of bourbon. B524 is perfectly balanced between sweet heat and spice. A complex lingering dram with a high abv that is super smooth. A conbination that’s hard to find, but this batch nails it. If you can find a bottle, pick it up. -
E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 18, 2025 (edited July 19, 2025)Smooth and chocolatey with a hot and spicey rye finish. I’m not a rye fan but this one works. The heat lingers a long time though, maybe a littlr too long for my taste. A good dram non-the-less. -
Highland Park 18 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed January 18, 2025 (edited October 12, 2025)If ever there was a scotch that tastes like a campfire, this is it. Smoke and spice hit first fillowed by sweet cherry, sherry, chocolate, cinnamon and ash. All sorts of subtle flavors best described as a journey of smells from a cigar room distilled into a glass of whiskey. A truely unique and delightful dram. Super smooth and complex with a dry finish. One of the very best to enjoy neat. -
Frank August Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon

Barrell Vantage
Bourbon — (bottled in) Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 5, 2024 (edited August 30, 2025)The best of Barrell’s main line offerings. Maple and smoke with a smooth oak char. Smooth, nutty and not too sweet. This dram is just right in a lot of ways.
