Bahnbrëcker Slow River Blend Hefeweizen Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Texas, USAReviewed October 12, 2023Tastes like an old fashioned in a bottle. Banana bread, spice, nutmeg, sweet but not too sweet. A great dessert sipper for a great value. Definitely unique and not for everyone, but this has earned a place on my shelf.
Calumet Farm 16 Year Single Rack Black Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed June 10, 2023I like the 10 and really like the 16. The 106 proof adds a bite to this sweet dram but also allows for it to be enjoyed on the rocks. Cinnamon, butterscotch, chocolate, spice and smoke combine in a deliciously versatile offering from Calumet.
Calumet Farm 10 Year Bull Lea
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed April 9, 2023 (edited June 10, 2023)Butterscotch and vanillla. A strong yet super sweet dram. Best enjoyed on the rocks. Will be adding this to my dessert collection. If the 10 is this good, I’m anxious to try the very hyped Calumet 16.
Glenmorangie Nectar D'or 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, ScotlandReviewed March 11, 2023Honey and citrus with a bite of ginger. Sweet honey, orange peel, apricots and sour grapes coat the mouth with a medium finish. Perfectly suited as a summer sipper on the porch with friends. A sweet dessert dram for sure.
Woodford Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed February 7, 2023 (edited May 30, 2023)Was given a bottle as a gift. Full of oak and the dried fruit is very apparent. Not a lot of character though.. Might make a good mixer.
Hibiki Japanese Harmony
Blended — JapanReviewed December 19, 2022 (edited December 20, 2022)Honey, cream, flowers and fruit. Smooth, young yet complex. Very good for a blend. Light oak, touch of sherry with little to no finish. My favorite Japanese dram. Light, extremely smooth abd therefore very dangerous.
Bourbon — Kentucky, USAReviewed November 11, 2022 (edited June 10, 2023)Wow, what a punch BUT surprisingly smooth. 120 proof fills the mouth with pepper and cherries, nutmeg and parsley. Old Kirk is thick, powerful, yet smooth. I’m normally a Scotch guy, but this balances the natural sweetness of bourbon with a punch that’s quite nice. Enjoy this on the rocks and savor the slow burn and big buzz.
Young & Yonder
Bourbon — USAReviewed November 8, 2022A very good mixer with a burnt smokey character that balances the sweetness of an Old Fashioned or Manhattan. A little too harsh for sipping.
Macallan Harmony Collection Rich Cacao
Single Malt — Highlands, ScotlandReviewed April 1, 2022 (edited May 30, 2023)Chocolate and more chocolate! Fudge, plum, dark chocolate entwined in a burst of rich decadence. Not overly complex, but very we’ll done for what it is, a sweet indulgence. Reminds me of JW Platinum but better. I wish the finish were a little longer to enjoy and savor. A great dessert dram.
Oban 2005 Distillers Edition (Bottled 2019)
Peated Single Malt — Highlands, ScotlandReviewed August 14, 2021 (edited April 13, 2022)I’ve been an Oban fan for awhile and was excited to try this. I wasn’t disappointed. A unique mix of dried fruit, salt, chocolate, and leather with a strong sherry presence. It walks a fine line with its complexity, successfully balancing the crisp saltiness I’m used to with an Oban while adding in hints of fruit and sherry. Smooth, light, crisp and fruity. A very good dram.
