Lagavulin Distillers Edition
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed January 29, 2018 (edited February 2, 2018)This is an extremely well balanced pour. It has that wonderful Lagavulin flavor, think balanced peat and smoke. However, it adds a layer of sweetness from the sherry barrel aging that is just sublime. Everything plays so well together that I cannot speak highly enough of this pour. -
The nose is a little smoky, with honey and apple, but nothing very strong. The palate is buttery, with some more honey and some spices. The finish has more smoke, some spices and heat, but generally is a short, disappointing finish. Overall, I would stay with the base Jamesons or try some other expressions.

The nose is vanilla, caramel, spices (maybe cinnamon), and dark cherry. The palate has some leather, but the stars are the vanilla and caramel, with some dark cherry and just a touch of spices. The finish starts with a blast of leather, then mellows out with the other flavors from the palate. Adding water eliminates the spices almost completely, but does take the edge off of the heat in the palate and finish.

The nose is confusing, astringent, granny smith apples, coconut and honey. It is still pleasant, but might be offputting. The taste is very creamy, with vanilla and honey notes. In the background is a slight coffee note, but none of the flavours are very bold. The finish is fairly short, except for the warmth. It includes a little coffee and a bit of alcohol burn. Overall, a solid pour.

Baker's Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 26, 2017 (edited November 16, 2018)Nose has the typical leather but includes a bit if citrus. It has a little heat, but the rich, oily leather and cinnamon flavors dominate. The heat leaves quickly, finishing with some vanilla and caramel. Definitely a wonderful drink. -
Russell's Reserve 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 26, 2017 (edited September 14, 2017)This is a really nice drink. Definitely some oak, but most of the taste is a wonderful oily leather and vanilla flavor. The finish gets just a touch of sugar sweetness. -
Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 4, 2017 (edited December 30, 2017)Nose was highly unexpected, the typical caramel and vanilla along with some granny smith apple. The taste has the familiar caramel and leather, but it is a little sweet like high rye whiskeys. The finish burns a bit but does not last as long as I would have thought. -
Michter's US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 4, 2017 (edited December 30, 2017)A sweeter nose of corn and maybe maple. Delicious flavors follow, obviously corn and some light oiliness. The finish definitely lingers from the taste with an addition of some cinnamon.
