Booker's Bourbon Batch 2016-01 "Booker's Bluegrass"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 11, 2017 (edited November 16, 2018)Be prepared for some heat, and make sure you add ice or water. The nose has the typical leather and vanilla notes. Drinking neat makes it really difficult to find much flavor besides vanilla. With some ice, the leather comes on strong with the oily taste and the vanilla. It finishes very hot as well, which is a little disappointing because the flavors are very smooth in the middle. -
Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 19, 2017 (edited December 30, 2017)This definitely has some caramel and vanilla in the beginning. In the middle you get some spiciness of cinnamon or clove. The ending is all oily leather and a wonderful finish. Overall, an excellent value. -
Laphroaig Quarter Cask
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed February 11, 2017 (edited December 30, 2017)Compared to the 10 year, this is more about the peat. Still has some lovely smokiness mixed with the peat. Has a touch of oiliness that helps this finish very smooth. -
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed January 7, 2017 (edited February 16, 2018)Smells just like a classic bourbon, oak and vanilla come through really nicely. More surprising is the taste, really smooth. The addition of a light honey flavor makes this a very nice drink. -
Highland Park Dark Origins
Single Malt — Orkney, Scotland
Reviewed December 10, 2016 (edited November 16, 2018)It may have the sherry but it is a pleasant sweetness. That blends wonderfully with a smoky flavor. There is a touch of spicy bite in the middle, but it all smooths out nicely in the end and leaves you wishing for more. -
1792 Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 21, 2016 (edited December 30, 2017)Almost a peppery spice on the nose, but not a lot in the flavor. Flavor has a bit of a bite, but sweetens up quickly. Ends up a little dry with some of the oak woodiness coming through. -
Ardbeg Uigeadail
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed September 13, 2016 (edited November 16, 2018)It is like Ardbeg 10 and Highland Park had a baby. A smoky and peaty nose are what you expect. The light addition of honey and sherry flavors make this a fantastic drink and an excellent value. Not too sweet, and just smoky enough.
