Nose - bananas, vanilla, caramel, creme brulee, slight astringent quality from the oak Palate - initial hit of sweetness, higher proof is evident. Rich oak and some nice rye spice following Finish - lingering, spicy and rich. A great Bourbon, full flavored and seems to be rye forward, although not ridiculously complex. Very good Bourbon to sip, and would probably also make a great whiskey cocktail!

White Walker by Johnnie Walker
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed February 28, 2020 (edited February 29, 2020)Served as recommended, out of the freezer. Nose - some vanilla and Apple, some spice... Cold glass feels nice in my hand, like having a cocktail. Palate - bitterness prominent at first, rounds out a little as drank, but fairly one dimensional. Vanilla notes hiding in the background. Finish - slightly harsh, somewhat like Danaerys's massacre of Kings landing, which happens to be what I'm watching as I drink this, so I may be slightly skewed. It does however change into a subtle sweetness, not unlike a Canadian whisky.... Or is it the reunification of Cercei and Jamie Lannister I'm tasting? Overall, probably best served as a component of a cocktail such as a rusty nail, or at least enjoyed with a large helping of Game of Thrones. -
Woodford Reserve Straight Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 22, 2020 (edited February 23, 2020)Nose - rye spice and fresh baked bread Palate - full bodied, grain and cereal forward. Pleasant spice not overpowering, what I'm looking for in a rye. Finish - grainy tingling that works it's way back through the palate. Lingering vanilla and oak. Delicious forward rye, not trying to hide or add anything here, but rather showcasing the grain and mash bill that make this special. Well worth the purchase. -
Paul John Edited Single Malt
Single Malt — Goa, India
Reviewed February 22, 2020 (edited July 13, 2022)Nose- initial hit of light camp smoke, which fades to reveal a dried fruit sweetness and raisins. Palate - peppery and full, spicy with dry tannins. Subtle peat comes through in the end followed by a suspended pleasant bitterness Finish - long, lingering with some peat with residual bitterness that is far from unpleasant. Overall a delicious balanced single malt with just the right amount of peat and smoke. -
