Tastes

Amber gold with uniform alcohol legs. The aroma is of bread dough and pear, with a touch of peat. The taste is of those elements, with a bit of a bite, at the end of the sip. The body is low medium and a bit oily. The finish is long-medium. RJT

Clear, light gold, with thin alcohol legs. Nose- mild bread dough and underlying cereal grains. Taste- similar, with no bold or offensive notes. There is sugar sweetness, though. Body is light to medium, and the finish is medium-long. RJT

This is certainly NOT an American single malt whiskey, but rather a Kentucky blended whiskey, at an 80:20 blend ratio. Bottled at Frankfort, KY (Buffalo Trace). No age statement, so it's 4+ years old (the straight whiskies). The appearance is of clear gold, with thin, uniform alcohol legs. The aroma is of creamy vanilla, very subdued charred oak, and generalized corn spirits. Taste is of sugary corn candy, some vanilla, a touch of charred oak, nectar, and grain spirits. Body is medium, and Ancient Age Preferred finishes moderate long. RJT

Dickel 12 has a clear, tan appearance, with widely-spaced, long alcohol legs. The aroma is of candy corn, charcoal, whiskey-saturated oak, and plum. The flavor is of corn grits, sourdough bagel, charred oak, and some flower nectar. The body is medium, and Dickel 12 finishes medium long. RJT

Tan, with no legs, oddly. Nose- charred oak and sweet grain. Taste- spicy, minty rye, with other fairly neutral grains to back it. Light-to-medium body. Moderate finish. RJT

Clear, amber appearance, w/uniform alcohol legs. Nose- rather bold & pungent caramel malt with some candy corn. Taste- sweet, bread crust, dough, and a touch of grain whiskey. Medium body. The finish is fairly quick. RJT

Clear, lighter gold appearance, with uniform alcohol legs. Aroma- sweet, mild bread dough & crust, with some corn smell. Taste- some grain bite, but also sugary bread dough, caramel, and candle wax. There might be a touch of garden compost. Body is medium, and the finish is long moderate. RJT

Clear, straw-gold appearance, with fairly thin legs. Nose- light honey and cereal. Taste- some sharp cereal and alcohol, but also honey and bread dough. Medium body. Moderate finish. RJT

Amber, with spaced out alcohol legs. Nose- caramel, cereal grain, a touch of smoke, and a dash of peat. Taste- somewhat abrasive cereal grain, faint peat w/a bit stronger smokiness, and caramel sweetness. Maybe, some red apple skin. Medium body. Moderate finish. RJT
