Flor De Caña Centenario 18 Rum
Aged Rum — Nicaragua
Reviewed February 20, 2020 (edited December 17, 2021)Wish it was better considering the 18 year claim. Subtle flavor of honey, nuts, and vanilla when sipped but it has quite the boozy nose. Somehow smooth considering that though. It’s definitely not bursting with flavor and it’s a very light tasting rum overall. It definitely doesn't compare with your favorite Bajan rums for the record. I picked some up because it was cheaper at the duty free in Costa Rica than it was at home. Good to convert a vodka drinker to rum perhaps but likely to bore the whiskey crowd.37.0 USD per Bottle -
High on the rum list and one if the best rum values you will find. Some added sugar yes, but not a bomb like 12 and 15yr. Best demerara I’ve had, very much like Pusser’s blue label but with a better tasting finish IMO. I had a girl tell me ooh that smells good even tho she didn't drink. Sweet with a little bit of funk, great stuff!

I recall this being kinda harsh, too young, and bitter. However I absolutely love the 12 year version which is way sweeter and delicious. Seems distiller dropped the ball on these ratings...how could the 5year be 90points and the 12 yr be 87??? Honestly I wouldnt even give the 5 yr that high considering Doorly’s XO is an 88.

Don Q Double Aged Vermouth Cask Finish Rum
Aged Rum — Puerto Rico
Reviewed May 13, 2019 (edited November 19, 2021)Smooth like all Don Q rums with cinnamon and olive flavor from the cask. Reminds me of a spiced up holiday drink but is not dessert like because it is too dry and only a little sweet. Different as can be, the closest thing to a rum old fashioned in a bottle.50.0 USD per Bottle -
Was just okay for me. It had a noticable apple-like lighter sweetness to it that was nice. However, the thin body and some burn took the score down for me. I tried it next to Wild Turkey 81 and didn't like it as much. I tend to like darker/sweeter bourbon and this isn't that, it is a dryer/lighter style. More rye perhaps?34.0 USD per Bottle

Don Q Signature Release Single Barrel 2007
Aged Rum — Puerto Rico
Reviewed May 20, 2018 (edited July 6, 2018)Up there with the best I've ever had. Very oaky, brown sugary, bourbon like for a rum. Reminded me much of all the good things from Pampero Reserva Exclusiva but smoother, lighter bodied, and obviously no sugar added. Woody and fantastic, a favorite for sure!
