Glenfarclas 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 7, 2020 (edited December 23, 2020)BLIND TASTING: Light gold color with very light legs Nose: Initial sweet nose. malt Palate:Very light with some malt flavor coming through. I find the palate rather unremarkable. Finish: Short with most flavour fading fast. Proof is low. I'd say around 43% This is an easy sipper which would most likely make a great intro to whiskey. 3/5 Uodate: After sipping a while, I think I might sense a small amount of peat. -

Black Maple Hill Limited Edition Purple Label
Bourbon — Oregon, USA
Reviewed November 23, 2020 (edited May 26, 2022)Moving on to sample 1 from Rick. legs are good with a nice golden color. Nose is more like a rye than a bourbon. I sense a strong dill note. There is an alfalfa hay note. I've only gotten that note on one other whiskey; Ranger Creek 0.38 bourbon. Palate brings that wonderful dill week flavor through. I'd definitely say this is a 95% rye mashbill. Wonderful rye flavor. Dill hangs around for a medium finish. Proof is in the 100 proof area. Nice dram -
Glenns Creek OCD #5 Cask Strength Triple Oaked
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 22, 2020 (edited August 13, 2021)Started with bottle "0" from Rick today. He provided 2 beautiful blind samples as a participant in the GCBS Sample Swap. Love working on blind samples. I primed the palate with a small nip of Benchmark. I actually like Benchmark; don't judge. On to the sample. Color as you can see is a beautiful golden. It has some decent legs but nothing spectacular. Nose is a great sweet butterscotch and toffee. I sense a slight hint of oak. Mouthfeel is light. Palate has that same sweetness from the nose. A small amount of spiciness. Reminds me of Indian Creek Bondhouse and Balcones True Blue. Finish has a some dark chocolatey like notes. Medium length. Proof is 114 High Proof like I love. This is an amazing dram for me. -
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2019-03 "Country Ham"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 17, 2020 (edited August 4, 2021)Since the weather went blustery here in Ohio today, I broke out this beauty from Kevin. Booker's Country 2019-03 63.35% ABV Nose is oak, ethanol, cinnamon Palate is an initial sweetness on the tongue that I wasn't expecting. oaky goodness is present. Just the right amount of spice. Finish is warm at the barrel proof. This is to be expected but isn't off putting to me at all. 4.5/5 -
