Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 26, 2020 (edited September 29, 2020)Day 26 of #30daysofbourbon for the #30daybourbonchallenge #bhm Maker's Mark Private Select MVWOL #4 SiB 54.3% ABV A new whiskey friend Matt Allen graciously shared a sample of the 4th barrel pick from Miami Valley Water of Life. I waited until today to open this sample, HOWEVER, Brent Sherri Ross gave me a sneak peek last Friday. I found it to be rather yummy and was so excited for another sip tonight. I don't typically go for wheated bourbons. I am definently a rye spice dude. That said, this is so incredibly yummy. Great legs and mouthfeel. golden to amber in color. Nose: Cherries for days, caramel, a little oak, Palate: oak, a little spice, brown sugar. Finish: Strong with tastes of chocolate and tobacco. This is an excellent bourbon. This group does some amazing picks. 4.25/5 -
Day 25 of #30daysofbourbon for the #30daybourbonchallenge #bhm New Riff SiB 4 yo straight bourbon 53.5% ABV A new whiskey friend Matt Allen graciously shared a sample of the latest barrel pick from Miami Valley Water of Life. Everyone has been bragging about this pick. I was so thrilled to get to sample this one. I took one sniff of the nose and new I liked, no loved, this pick. Nose: caramel, spice, vanilla. Ethanol Palate: oak, spice, something else I can't put my finger on. I like it though. 🙃 Finish: Strong KY hug from the higher proof. The flavour lingers on your tongue. This is an great bourbon. I'm truly glad I saved a little for a second pour. I regret I didn't get a bottle. 4/5

Rye — Indiana (Bottled in Kentucky), USA
Reviewed September 21, 2020 (edited February 14, 2021)I really dig the 100 proof. This takes it up a notch. Having it on the rocks tonight. My batch is 58.7% (117.4 proof) ABV. Getting an amazing dill on the nose even with the ice. Great taste that holds up well on ice. -
