Day 17 of #30daysofbourbon for the #30daybourbonchallenge #bhm Balcones Pot Still Bourbon 46% ABV 4 Grain, Corn. Texas Wheat & Rye, and Barley Nose is vanilla and caramel. Palate is sweet, with a grassy note, I get a little oak Finish is a little flat. Short and a hint of dark chocolate. I have been waiting to open this bottle ever since I bought it on 9/2. I had high hopes after tasting the True Blue CS last month. True Blue this is not. 😒 I will let it sit and revisit. I've learned that neck pours aren't always the best judge of a bourbon. Rating 2.8/5

Day 16 of #30daysofbourbon for the #30daybourbonchallenge #bhm Boone County Small Batch 90.8% ABV 75% Corn 21% Rye 4% Barley No legs to speak of. golden amber Nose: Sweet corn, vanilla cream, light oak Palate: Pretty mild flavour. sweetness, very mild spice. Finish: Not much flavour. This is a mild easy sipping whiskey. It's not anything special but has nothing horrible. Its men. 3/5

Sipping in a flight with Eagle Rare and Benchmark. Getting creamy peanut butter.

Day 14 of #30daysofbourbon for the #30daybourbonchallenge #bhm Eagle Rare Barrel Pick. Tonight's taste came to me from The Rotgut Review and is my 1st Eagle Rare tasting. 45% ABV of Buffalo Trace low rye mashbill# 1 I decided to compare it to my Benchmark and 1776 Bourbon. (Realized just now I choose a high rye bourbon with 1776. DOH) Nose is oak, toffee, and spice Palate is spice and oak. finish is almost a dark chocolate. The bourbon is definitely darker from the longer time in the cask. 4/5. Great bourbon. Too bad it's a unicorn in Oh.
