Flavored Whiskey — Canada
Reviewed September 12, 2020 (edited October 28, 2020)The whiskey itself isn't bad. It is just so sickening sweet. It's like drinking caramel syrup. -
Day 11 of #30daysofbourbon for the #30daybourbonchallenge #bhm Maker's Mark 70% Corn 16% Red Winter Wheat 14% Barley I haven't had MM in a while. Typically I don't thrive on wheater bourbons. I usually go for the spice of a rye. That said, it was time to revisit this classic Nose is a bubble yum bubble gum. A little more butterscotch after sitting for a little bit. A slight hint of grass. First sip is a little more ethanol bite than I expected. grassy (That's the wheat) and a little bit of oak. Not a heavy mouthfeel. Actually pretty light. Finish stays around for a while with a KY hug. A little bitter after taste. I'd give it a 3 out of 5. I'm not really a huge wheater fan though. It's a solid wheater bourbon. I just crave the spice.

Evan Williams Black Label
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 11, 2020 (edited October 25, 2020)Day 11 of #30daysofbourbon for the #30daybourbonchallenge Evan William's Black Label I wanted to revisit this tasting with one of my favorite bourbon's baby brother. I really enjoy the Evan William's Bottled in Bond (White Label) bourbon. Nose is oak with little ethanol burn. A slight, and I mean very slight, caramel. Palate is thin on the mouth with some oak and a little spice. Finish is short to medium with a little hint of spices. So much weaker when compared with the EW BIB. It's a great basic mixer. 3/5 -
