Whistlepig 10 Year Small Batch Rye
Rye — (bottled in) Vermont, Canada
Reviewed December 12, 2020 (edited December 31, 2020)Very good. I’m not well-versed in rye whiskeys whatsoever, but I love this. Spicy, black licorice, with some vanilla and cinnamon notes. Great one to warm you up on a cold night. -
Grangestone Highland Single Malt Rum Cask Finish
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 12, 2020Nope. Not good. It has some flavors in there but it tastes like it’s had a couple ice cubes melted in it. -
Port Charlotte 10 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed September 18, 2020 (edited October 1, 2020)Peat and phenol on the nose. Immediately spicy on the palette. There’s subtle vanilla in the smell and taste, maybe some bacon as well. And also some notes of puke of the nose (oddly an ok thing?). But mostly just a big peat punch. Not a bad thing! It’s intense but tasty. -
Ardbeg Wee Beastie
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed September 6, 2020 (edited September 14, 2020)Subtle on the nose. Nothing jumps out and punches you. A little bit of an asphalt note, somewhat meaty and salty. It’s also surprisingly subtle on the palette as well. Not much bite, but tasty. More salt and brine. Something else I can’t put my finger on that’s a little more fruity. Was expecting something MUCH more aggressive. It’s good, but doubt I’ll buy another bottle.
