That is to say, although it has a lot of complexity, all these values ​​leave an overall sensation of drinking something well-made, without any attribute standing out too much, which enhances the whisky as a whole. I love the aftertaste it leaves, which is unexpectedly sweet and delicate, yet long and intense in just the right amount. The hints of honey and cinnamon make this whisky a very classic profile among gentle whiskies, and its buttery consistency almost (and I mean almost) places it among breakfast whiskies.

On the palate, the peach is weaker but still very predominant, drawing a lot of attention in the aftertaste, where, in a delicate way, it continues to make its presence clear. Although it's a simple whisky, this fruity note, if you don't consciously notice it, leaves a very pleasant sweetness in your mouth, as well as a freshness, which makes it easily drinkable.

ES / EN Un whisky excepcional, aunque fuerte, su toque alcohólico se disimula rápidamente por una capa compleja de sabores donde el dulce predomina sin empachar. Cómo cada batch cambia, tampoco puedo generalizar, pero este batch 9 está maravillosamente equilibrado sin perder su toque especial. En nariz entra de golpe la vainilla con el dátil, y se pierde rápidamente con unas notas un poco florales y una reminiscencia a caramelo. En boca entra muy meloso, cremoso, con un toque dulce por delante que pasa a unas notas tostadas ligeramente amargas y que dejan un retrogusto a toffee y caramelo. También se nota un toque de pimienta negra. En un segundo trago en toffee toma el protagonismo, y la densidad lo hace aún más cremoso. A pesar del alcohol, entra fácilmente, muy disimulado. The palate is very honeyed, creamy, with a sweet touch at the front that transitions to slightly bitter toasted notes that leave an aftertaste of toffee and caramel. There is also a hint of black pepper. In a second sip, toffee takes center stage, and the density makes it even creamier. Despite the alcohol, it goes in easily, very concealed. On the palate it begins with a spiciness that quickly disappears, leaving the smoky touch typical of the area at the bottom of the tongue. A rich and somewhat creamy flavor is maintained on the palate, with salty and woody nuances. It ends with a smooth throat but a strong tongue, returning the spiciness and smokiness after the sweetness and notes of vanilla.

ES / EN Destilado de Malta sin envejecer de la bodega Picos de Cabariezo. No es propiamente un whisky, sino un destilado típico de la zona cántabra. En nariz predomina el dulzor con notas del mosto cereal y un claro fondo alcohólico al más puro orujo. Tiene alguna nota a fruta madura y dulce. No es desagradable, e invita a probar. En boca es bastante sencillo, fácil de beber, con las notas efímeras de los cereales y trigo, y el dulce predominante. Acaba muy plano, con el alcohol como protagonista en la lengua. No tiene matices más profundos, pero, al contrario que otros destilados puros, acaba de forma muy agradable. Me ha sorprendido mucho, siendo un destilado fuerte, que aporte tanto dulzor y se deje beber tan bien. Se echan de menos todos los matices del barril, siendo una bebida muy tenue y efímera. Aún así, es todo un descubrimiento y, además, promete un gran whisky a partir de el destilado. / Unaged malt distillate from the Picos de Cabariezo winery. It is not exactly a whiskey, but a typical distillate from the Cantabrian area. Sweetness predominates on the nose with notes of cereal must and a clear alcoholic background of the purest orujo. It has some notes of ripe and sweet fruit. It is not unpleasant, and invites you to try. On the palate it is quite simple, easy to drink, with the ephemeral notes of cereals and wheat, and the predominant sweetness. It ends very flat, with alcohol as the protagonist on the tongue. It does not have deeper nuances, but, unlike other pure distillates, it ends in a very pleasant way. It has surprised me a lot, being a strong distillate, that it provides so much sweetness and is so easy to drink. All the nuances of the barrel are missed, being a very dim and ephemeral drink. Even so, it is quite a discovery and, in addition, it promises a great whiskey from the distillate.

ES/EN Entra en nariz con notas de vainilla acompañado de fruta. Si se presta atención se puede notar un toque de piña. Justo antes de entrar en boca, esto se convierte en una mezcla acaramelada ligeramente mantecosa, pero esa sensación no se mantiene mucho tiempo en la primera expresión de la boca. Entra con la vainilla y deja un regusto malteado que se vuelve picante y amargo. Un poco alcohólico en exceso a medida que se asienta. En garganta se vuelve a encontrar el toque afrutado y un poco de pimienta blanca. Hay cierta cremosidad en todo el trago que me recuerda a otros buenos "breakfast whiskies". Es una bebida muy equilibrada, con muchos matices pero bien conectados, agradable y satisfactoria, con muchas oportunidades de sorprender. There is a certain creaminess in the whole drink that reminds me of other good "breakfast whiskeys". It is a very balanced drink, with many nuances but well connected, pleasant and satisfying, with many opportunities to surprise. For its price, it is one of the great recommendations to have at home and a great gift for all types of whiskey lovers.
