Nose is fruit pie and mild cinnamon. The first taste on the tongue follows that theme at first doughy and then berries without the tartness. I do get a little pepper and heat in the chest but the lingering flavor be is berry pie. Much milder than most ryes. This is a very good whiskey for the price tag.

Willett Family Estate Small Batch Rye 4 Year
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 23, 2019 (edited May 11, 2020)The nose is a floral bouquet which belies the flavors to follow. Don't know if I've ever had a rye before that is so true to the grain. It's like a bite of hot rye bread with black pepper. Nice heat level, flavor eventually fades into mild salty dill. Not overly complex but very unique. This whiskey is like no other I've had.50.0 USD per Bottle -
Sweet cinnamon spiced apple nose. Distinct flavor profile common to Old Forester bourbon. This version is a cinnamon bomb on the palate, slightly yeasty with a very sweet berry finish but also a nice warm chest. More so than the others, my feeling about this version of Old Forester depends on my palate when I drink it. Sometimes I love it, sometimes not so much. Definitely drink on ice.

Wood and strawberry licorice nose. Taste is of sweet raspberry pop tarts moving to wood and peppery service berries. A mild tobacco flavor on the finish. There is a lingering grape flavor well after the whiskey is swallowed. This is a unique, pleasant whiskey, but I think it would benefit from more time in the barrel.

Reviewed February 6, 2019Nose reminds me of turpentine, definitely piney, but not in a bad way. The palate is spicy pepper, anise and cloves.
