Plantation Trinidad 2011 Binnys Burgundy Aged
Aged Rum — Trinidad , Trinidad & Tobago
Reviewed April 23, 2024Nose: dense caramel and honey. Light citrus Taste: sweet dense toffee with a bitter hint of the wine that drifts off into sweet vanilla cream. Adding water brings more of the bitter notes and funky fusil oil notes. The “official notes” say theres hints of mocha and it kind of is the drying feeling of drinking a hot mocha but not much of the flavor.54.0 USD per Bottle -
Nose: heavy peach and apple with a strong vanilla. Light hint of spiciness and dark caramel. Hint of citrus after tasting it. Taste: heavy oak up front gives way to a sweet vanilla with a very spicy cinnamon finish. Fruity notes sneak their way into the mid palette. Water buries the fruit notes and brings out the sweeter vanilla and caramrl notes Alright on its own but it definitely would seem like a good for cocktails39.0 USD per Bottle

Nose: rye, dark chocolate orange, burnt caramel / toffee. Fresh lemon / slight mint. Taste: rye and burnt orange with a light dusting of cinnamon. Light herbal dill and light honey. Oaky finish that is strong but does not dominate (if that makes any sense) Water and air seem to dull down the burnt caramel / oak notes and bring up the citrus and herbal notes

High West High Country American Single Malt (2021 Release)
American Single Malt — Utah, USA
Reviewed October 29, 2022Nose: sharp cut grass and raisin with chocolate and light tobacco. Taste: sharp hay with figs, chocolate and dense caramel. First bit of water makes the nose syrupy and dense with deep stewed figs and caramel while adding a malty honey note. Taste also becomes thicker and oily with a light hidden floral and citrus note. Next bit of water dampens down the hay notes even more. Adds a strong peachy finish. And a bit of a gingerbread note. Still fairly disappointing. But if you really disliked it try adding (a lot of) water as it opens up some more desirable flavors while hiding the more bitter grassy notes -
Glenmorangie A Tale of Cake
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed October 25, 2022 (edited October 26, 2022)Nose: yes, it does smell of cake. Dense vanilla cream cheese frosting. Very sweet fruits of oranges and cherries with a light pear and raspberry. Taste: sour lemons and light yellow cake with a sweet tres leches caramel drizzle and slight grape jelly. Water dampens some of the harsher malt notes and let’s the fruit shine through.
