Laphroaig Càirdeas 2023 White Port & Madeira Casks
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed November 28, 2024 (edited December 2, 2024)Nose: classic laphraoig peat, honey with a slight hint of almonds, white grapes and a hint of dark grapes, light bacon grease. Taste: base laphroaig with a very sweet mid palette. Honey and stewed fruits. Very strong peaty finish almost salty and peppery. Water is desperately needed here. It turns the nose into very lovely stewed fruits with honey and port, almost a jammy quality. Peat takes a back seat but is still somewhat present giving way to oak. Taste is then an intense oaky peppery bite with the fruits and peat. More water makes it even better with the peat up front then going into the jammy stewed fruits. -

Plantation Trinidad 2011 Binnys Burgundy Aged
Aged Rum — Trinidad , Trinidad & Tobago
Reviewed April 23, 2024Nose: dense caramel and honey. Light citrus Taste: sweet dense toffee with a bitter hint of the wine that drifts off into sweet vanilla cream. Adding water brings more of the bitter notes and funky fusil oil notes. The “official notes” say theres hints of mocha and it kind of is the drying feeling of drinking a hot mocha but not much of the flavor.54.0 USD per Bottle -
Nose: heavy peach and apple with a strong vanilla. Light hint of spiciness and dark caramel. Hint of citrus after tasting it. Taste: heavy oak up front gives way to a sweet vanilla with a very spicy cinnamon finish. Fruity notes sneak their way into the mid palette. Water buries the fruit notes and brings out the sweeter vanilla and caramrl notes Alright on its own but it definitely would seem like a good for cocktails39.0 USD per Bottle

Nose: rye, dark chocolate orange, burnt caramel / toffee. Fresh lemon / slight mint. Taste: rye and burnt orange with a light dusting of cinnamon. Light herbal dill and light honey. Oaky finish that is strong but does not dominate (if that makes any sense) Water and air seem to dull down the burnt caramel / oak notes and bring up the citrus and herbal notes
