Lost Spirits Leviathan I Single Malt
American Single Malt — California, USA
Reviewed September 16, 2022Nose: intense dirt and oak smoke. A light stone fruit / chocolate with a light honeyed malt. Taste: intense burning green pine and honey with a hint of orange and peach. Water merges all the elements and reduces them down. A chocolate toffee almond note emerges with light vanilla on the taste. The nose adds a burnt grass note. -
Nose: intense tobacco smoke with the light hint of mayo and blue cheese. A malty syrupy fruit cake hint is also present. On second pass it becomes fruity with pears, apples, and a slight hint of sharp strawberries. Taste: tobacco and intense smoke with a sharp lemon sweetness and a mild oak finish. A light fruitiness also comes in with pears and a mild honey. Water mediates the nose down. It also makes the taste more melded and adds a spicy finish. Still not as good as the curiositas but still decent enough

Nose: honey, lemon, sharp bitter orange. Taste: butter cookie and spicy cinnamon. It has a really sharp and bitter finish. Water does not alter the nose but brings out the taste with more spicy cinnamon and honey with bitter grapes and dates with red wine. It's okay. Nothing amazing. Much better Irish out there.

Nose: sugar cane, apples, red grapes and light amaretto syrup. Caramel and cinnamon. Taste: figs and almond candy. Light cinnamon and oak. Water opens up heavy fruits such as apple and peaches. Taste turns more oaky and burnt caramel and cinnamon with a hint of grape on the finish. A lot of water is needed to bring out and balance the flavors but it’s worth it when you do.
