I picked up a bottle of this while in Australia. My assessment of this is that it is overrated. The first sip has a bit of bite to it but like as you drink it it mellows on the palate. The flavor profile is more one dimensional than I expected and lacks complexity. I expected a smooth complex bourbon with a semi sweet flavor but this is not any better than a bottle of Makers. I think the hype of Pappy has driven the price of this to a level that is not warranted, it just doesn’t taste like a twelve year old bottle should. I’m glad to have it in the collection but won’t buy it again.

Wow, absolutely excellent. The flavor is rich and complex, it does not disappoint. Very smooth and full of flavor, I highly recommend!

Great bourbon, flavor has complexity. A little bit of bite up front but after a couple of sips it smooths out on the palate. I think the expert review is a bit high but it’s very good.

Very easy to drink and smooth, a bit sweet, you get the flavor from the red wine barrels.

Very smooth and clean bourbon, it is enjoyable to drink but it’s flavor lacks complexity. I paid $45 for this and at that price point I consider it over priced as there are many bourbons at that price that are better.
