GlenDronach Parliament 21 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 23, 2023 (edited April 25, 2023)Rich, dark fruit, a little bit of custard and chocolate, with some bitter oak coming through on the finish. The only real standout in the Glendronach standard lineup. -
Armorik Originale Edition Single Malt
Single Malt — Breton, France
Reviewed April 7, 2023 (edited April 25, 2023)Didn't know they make whiskey in France... light bodied, bready, some berries on the palate. Finish is long, with some dark fruit, ending up a little dry. -
GlenDronach Allardice 18 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 7, 2023 (edited April 25, 2023)Dark fruit, mostly plum and raisin, chocolate, well-balanced. Finish is not particularly compelling; not off-putting, but probably my least favorite aspect of this dram.38.0 USD per Pour -
Clynelish 1996 17 Year (Adelphi)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 7, 2023 (edited April 25, 2023)Fruity palate, a little oily, long finish with a little dark fruit and caramel, wax and pear on the nose. Pretty nice flavors and aromas in there, but the only thing preventing this from being excellent is that it's a little on the hot side.27.0 USD per Pour -
Single Cask Nation Linkwood 12
Single Malt — Speyside , Scotland
Reviewed April 3, 2023 (edited April 25, 2023)Compared to the DS Tayman, much more robust, obviously the proof helps. Dark fruit, butterscotch, blackberries. Port cask is present but not too overbearing. Not much character from the distillate, but it provides a nice enough vehicle for the port. -
Linkwood 12 2008 - DS Tayman 2nd Edition
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed April 3, 2023 (edited April 25, 2023)Aromas of apple pie and berries. Palate reminds me of strawberry shortcake, with a body on the lighter side, and a peppery finish. Nothing amazing, but really solid for the price.65.0 USD per Bottle -
Picked this up to celebrate my 40th birthday, and finally cracked it open. Didn't know what to expect as I hadn't had a single malt anywhere near this old. In the nose, there are aromas of honey, black tea, and some baked fruits like apple or pear. The palate starts off on the sweet side, with a medium body and the sherry cask evident. Milk chocolate, a bit of custard, and a little nutmeg. Reminds me of mousse. Long finish with some bitter wood notes coming into the picture. This was a nice treat, and there are some flavors in there that I haven't found in younger whiskeys, but I wouldn't say it's necessarily more enjoyable than something in the 20s.

laphroaig 22 (Single Malts of Scotland Director's Special)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed March 19, 2023 (edited March 22, 2023)Fruity nose, well hidden smoke. On the palate there's some cherry, prune, dr pepper, smoked meats, earth. Long finish where a little peat starts to show. Nice oily mouthfeel. This was one of the best whiskeys I'd had when I first had a pour a year or so ago, and decided to revisit it after trying a couple more aged Laphroaigs. This still holds up, might edge out the DTD22 slightly, although that one is more distinctly Laphroaig.100.0 USD per Pour
