Wilderness Trail Family Reserve Single Barrel Cask Strength Bourbon (Wheated Bourbon)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 12, 2022 (edited March 9, 2024)Spec’s pick. 4.5 years old. Nose of vanilla, sweet bread, sawdust, honey. On the palate I pick up sweet wheat, some malt, caramel, sawdust. The proof has a burn on the finish. Overall, it is pretty good. I wonder if some age would improve it by removing some of the young wood/sawdust I am picking up that is not quite integrated into the other flavor notes. -
Barrell Armida

Reviewed May 23, 2022 (edited October 9, 2022)Lots of pear, which is the dominant aroma and flavor that i pick up. Also has bright tropical fruit, mineral notes, rum sweetness, some faint oak tannin and alcohol burn. Very unique. -
George Dickel 15 Year Tennessee Single Barrel
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed May 19, 2022Orange, crème brûlée, caramel, oak was present from age, but very balanced. Very good. -
On the nose I get vanilla, oak, cherry and some rye spice. On the palate I get more of the vanilla sweetness and rye spice, as well as some honey and fruit. Finish has some lingering rye spice. This is just a very solid and obtainable bourbon. It will always hold a special place among whiskeys to me, as it is the bourbon that first made me realize how much i enjoy bourbon.
