Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 29, 2022 (edited April 12, 2023)Rye spice, sweet caramel. Oily and delicious. I like the balance of the spice and sweetness in this rye, and the proof really works here. Great pour. -
Wilderness Trail Family Reserve Single Barrel Cask Strength Bourbon (Wheated Bourbon)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 12, 2022 (edited March 9, 2024)Spec’s pick. 4.5 years old. Nose of vanilla, sweet bread, sawdust, honey. On the palate I pick up sweet wheat, some malt, caramel, sawdust. The proof has a burn on the finish. Overall, it is pretty good. I wonder if some age would improve it by removing some of the young wood/sawdust I am picking up that is not quite integrated into the other flavor notes. -
