Jack Daniels Single Barrel Whiskey, Crossroads Hy-Vee Store Pick
Tennessee Whiskey — USA
Reviewed February 11, 2021Nose - maple syrup, caramel, light spice, brown sugar and a touch of banana Palette - light, syrup and tangy fruit, some spice at the end Finish - spice lingered the longest, mild burn -
Nose - sure there’s smoke and brine, but mango and other tangy tropical fruits really shine through, a bit of sherry and hint of sweet chocolate Palette - fairly light mouthfeel, ripe but not overly sweet tropical fruits, the smoke takes a backseat, some brine comes though, overall a very fresh taste for a peated scotch Finish - long lingering mango flavors, no real bitterness, slight spice at the end, medium burn

Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 8, 2021 (edited June 26, 2024)Tried this for the first time in a cigar bar with great selection and prices. My notes are obviously affected by all the cigar smoke, but I tried not to dwell on that too much. Nose - bright tropical fresh and tangy fruit, some tobacco and leather, dark sherry fruits with caramelized sugars, orange peel or maybe oak tannins providing a bit of bitterness, a hint of ripe banana by Palette - slightly thick, rich and fruity but not overly sweet, not really getting any vanilla or caramel, maybe some brown sugar, more citrus sharp sweetness tempered by a slight bitterness, a tiny bit of a savory note Finish - rich fruit and dark sugars linger a long time on the back of your tongue, tiny amount of bitterness at the very end, slightly strong but very pleasant burn -
