Bonus time hit, so I figured this was how I would treat myself this year. By far the most expensive scotch I’ve bought on my own and am very excited to give it a go. Nose - Fruity, cherry, mulling spices, caramel, vanilla extract. Taste - Might be a bit full for my pallet. The box claims cherries, ginger, and dark chocolate which I get none of. I definitely get the sherry cask, but other than that it’s hard to differentiate from other scotches I’ve had. Finish - Tingles the tip of the tongue. Smooth. The burn lasts on your tongue, but in a good way. Belly is warm. I’m a fan, but will be very interested to revisit this later when I know more of what I’m doing.110.0 USD per BottleHoliday Market

This ones been sitting on my shelf for awhile, all the time I was thinking this is much nicer than it really is. That being said, I enjoy it more than I thought I would. Nose - Behind the alcohol swab, I feel like I detect a hint of vanilla. The longer I try to nose, the more I can only get a nail-polish remover smell. Taste - It’s light on the tip of my tongue without much flavor until it hits the sides. No smokiness, which I would imagine makes sense without being peated. When swishing around, there’s a fruitiness that almost wants to break through but can’t. Finish - Hot on the back of the throat and subsequent swallows bring the feeling back.

Lagavulin Offerman Edition 11 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed February 17, 2021 (edited July 14, 2021)Been trying to get into scotch for a couple of weeks now and finally feel like it’s starting to grow on me. After reading Texacer’s guide on r/Scotch I wanted to start taking some notes of my own. Enjoyed - Neat (first time, I’m usual a single ice cube guy) in a Glencairn, listening to Fleet Foxes radio. Nose - Smokey, meaty, spiced citrus, newly built sauna, tobacco. In all honestly, I think I’m too novice to smell past the peat. Taste - Smoky, exhaling through my nose feels like I’m sitting next to a campfire. The alcohol lingers and lightly burns my tongue. Finish - Almost like if vanishes. The sip vaporizes before it even hits your throat.
